James Reilly and Michelle Mulherin; both lost their seats at the General Election

The former TDs parachuted into Seanad Eireann include Dr James Reilly, former health and children’s minister, and Mr Kenny’s past constituency running mates Michelle Mulherrin and John O’Mahony. Ray Butler who has represented Meath West in the past and Paudie Coffey, a former junior minister.

Almost 3 and a half grand on phone calls to Kenya to her boyfriend.. Great to be back on the gravy train all the same.. scratching your arse all day, yapping on the phone.

Like the fupp would you be talking about for that amount of time like?

That’s some amount of fornication talk.

She could have done the fornication over facetime for free.. or skype or viber.

But it’s all the one when the taxpayers are paying for it, I suppose.

May I take this opportunity to congratulate and thank our Dear Teasock for these inspired appointments. If I was young enough, or at least had sufficient resources, I would emigrate tomorrow. The stench of corruption is choking me.

Well this ensures that she’ll be in a visible position to make completely factual statements and be derided for them.

    1. Anne

      lol

Oh Rotsey, you’re an awful troll.

Factual, like the one about fornication being the most likely cause of unwanted pregnancies?

She was indeed factual, that sex – even that outside of marriage – leads to pregnancy.

Factually, you’re also 100% more likely to get pregnant if you’re a woman, if you fornicate. Who’d a thought.

    Poor stuff from Enda.

Should be appointing promising young politicians / civil activists. Not political deadwood – especially those rejected by the electorate

Would it be better if he at least pretended he didn’t have utter contempt for the electorate?

Agreed, disappointing. I don’t know that the Seanad should be a popular vote but there should be mechanisms to ensure all the various pillars of society are represented by appropriate thinkers ,rather than a retirement home or a popularity contest

I remember all the twits on here defending the Seanad during the referendum.
    twits

  4. Yep

To be fair, there are some good appointments. Not mentioned here for obvious reasons…although the mates who got the nod do make me a little queasy..

The problem with the Seanad is the attention paid to it. There have been really important speeches made within it but the ones that get the most coverage involve seagulls and ice cream vans.

I voted to keep it. I am disappointed the reform touted (election process) was never touched but I’m still glad it exists. If anyone disagrees past “waste of taxpayers money” or “sure they can’t even do anything anyway” I would love to hear it.

Yep, I actually can’t be bothered. If you really can’t see it for yourself then explanations are unlikely to help you.

      1. Yep

I am not asking for help. I am putting my opinion out there hoping for some reasonable counter points…..Congrats on being motivated enough to patronize but not enough to engage yourself in a discussion where we could both learn something or at the very least solidify each ones belief in our current understanding about the subject.

Zappa is overrated. I guess that is just something else I just don’t get….Sleep well precious.
