This afternoon.

An Garda Síochána hold a press conference appealing to the public for any new information about the 1986 disappearance of Philip Cairns.

More as they get it.

By the sound of things, they’ve had all the info they needed for decades, just as they had in Mary Boyles case and Cynthia Owens.

    Useless shower of deadbeats.

        @ Jackass

On the contrary. Are you insinuating that BS is the only media outlet that is making this information available to the public?

This is the first occasion that the Gardai have said that Philip was in the radio station because of his interest in radio.

Not mentioned in the leaks last week (that I heard anyway) – which given the weakness in aspects of the leaked story, one would have expected that to be mentioned.

This would not have come from the 9 year old original source – she never mentioned speaking to Philip.

Was this one of the “confirmations” provided by Cooke on his death bed?

But that’d have been a new revelation rather than a confirmation, right?

Unless the recent comments / clarifications of Gareth O’Callaghan are now being seized upon by the Gardai to aid their current narrative?

My source for my comments was, shame on me, an RTE news report, tweeted some 10 hours ago.

@rtenews: Gardaí now believe they have established a link between convicted paedophile Eamon Cooke and missing Philip Cairns http://bit.ly/262bLqG

But, interestingly, if you click on that link now, the headline has changed, and the page says it was updated only an hour ago.
