I remember when golfers had balls.
Golfers don’t care about the Olympics because there’s no money in it. They don’t want to wear team uniforms that aren’t sponsor approved and the zika virus is a convenient get out for them.
Whoever brown enveloped the IOC to get golf in must be feeling pretty hard done by at this stage!
Indeed, they struggle to get out of the bunker. Olympic golf, you’d think they could swing it but it seems there’s no fair way.
Expect they and the sponsor would make millions extra if they became the first gold medal winner. Maybe it’s just a case of not wanting to play because you know fupp the ioc and it’s corruption.
still do, just a little softer!
I’m totally sick and tired of hearing the term ‘hero’ being applied to footballers in recent months. At least there’s no pretense of heroism in golf. This Olympics is shaping up to be a non event.
Dropping like flys now
Actually looks like a Zika Baby
Snorts! Well played.
Good shot, old bean.
Brilliant :)
I always knew that Jason Day didn’t want to represent Ireland :) .
he’s dead right, tis a spineless sh1tehole of a place
Obviously never been dav!
What do the Olympics check for that the major golf tours don’t check for as vigorously …..although its not a very high bar of checking….???
No prizes for the correct answer.
Ah now, a reasonably young man, recently married, planning a family, and it’s of little or no importance to his career? Seems like a straightforward decision to me. There doesn’t always have to be a dodgy motive.
The Zika excuse is nonsense….wear protection for 6 months and you are fine….as regards the other thing talk to me in ten years….Cycling (hid it in plain sight for years…didn’t last)….Rugby (trying to hide it)….Soccer (better at hiding it)…Golf (very good at hiding it) …
The truth will come out eventually…
exactly. way stricter and more transparent doping in Olympics than PGA tour – that’s it
Rainy Day, have you ever actually looked at Shane Lowry?
I’ll give you a minute so you can go and google him in all his nandrolone and EPO enhanced glory.
There. Feel a bit silly now?
One fat guy doesn’t mean the rest of them are clean.
This bloke, Gary Player, who knows more about golf than we do, reckoned there was lots of drug use:

A secret for you, the more money and glory, the more likely that drugs will be abused. It also helps if the sport’s governing body turns a blind eye to it.
+1
He could easily go, leave the missus at home, take precautions against being bitten by 1 specific species of mosquito, come home, wait 4-5 weeks and get tested for Zika. Even if he is positive, he just has to stay clear of the old jiggery pokery for about 3 months after the symptoms pass.
If I were in his situation, I would be more concerned about the security situation there.
They’re just not bothered and the Olympics is going to be a load of hassle for them.
Is it a crisis, with all golfers, withdrawing or a bogey.
I mean how are they going to get the little white ball into the small round hole now in Rio.
Now Lowry is gone. I was thinking that maybe most golfers would like to compete anyway, an Olympic medal would be nice to have after all. But I suppose they don’t matter a damn when you’re a professional chasing majors.
