Today marks the 100th centenary of start the Battle of the Somme which was to last until November 18, 1916 with more than one million men wounded or killed

Because the monument at Thiepval, has no walkways, and nobody’s accorded any special treatment other than the unknown soldiers buried behind it. Everybody is equal at the memorial only the fallen are honored.
