“Man” at Dunnes Stores. (Smart but casual)
Those high waisted trousers secured with a good thick leather belt show the world you’re a *real* man with *real* conviction.
Or just poor taste in cheap clothes?
Who are you wearing yourself today, Queenie
Now Ger, BS is not that sort of site.
Concealing (as it does) the “comfy fit” waist band.
Did Colm Tóibín really say that? Was he serious?
He did, as it’s fundamental to democracy that opposing thoughts be permitted to exist in public, if only for their veracity to be examined and the absurdity of their logic foregrounded.
Exactly and I would agree with him
Colm is obviously someone who understands that hearing opinions different to one’s own is actually good for democracy.
I’m all for hearing different opinions, but when those opinions are bigoted and set against the backdrop of ‘religion’, while also coming from a ‘charity’ that receives tax exemption in this state and simultaneously lobbies government with said bigoted opinions, then that is not good for democracy.
We have plenty of right-wing opinions from Fine Gael and Fianna Fail without giving a soap-box to every nutcase with a point of view.
+1
Although I’d add, there’s no problem having lobby / interest groups, so long as they are registered with SIPO and are open and transparent in their dealings, research and accounting practices – Just like the ‘yes’ side in the #MarRef… and unlike the ‘No’ side in that same ref.
But sure aren’t they on a “mission from god”.

Is it usual for companies to put begging letters in newspapers?
There’s a man who doesn’t look comfortable in his own skin.
Funny how 2 of the 3 ‘recommendations’ on the advert are actually negative. They literally couldn’t find more than 1.
“Everyone hates us, give us your money.”
Their whole reason for being is to be against things.
Against same sex marriage.
Against civil rights.
Against progressive ideas.
Against the modern world.
Negative opinions give them power, so negative quotes prove to them that they’re having the desired effect.
They want to dismantle the social and societal gains of the past 30 years.
There’s a lot of people against the modern world (who are also progressive.)
Did someone say there wasn’t?
I don’t think you should be against people who are against the modern world.
“I hate them but they have gumption” – Birneybau2
He strikes me as honest enough. Its just that I disagree with his views 100%.
He, IONA, have a disclaimer on the website so that when they intentionally misinterpret research or mangle the original researchers findings to make some statement unrelated to the research they just point at that.
He’s deceitful to mislead people on such topics as abortion.
“He’s deceitful to mislead people on such topics as abortion.”
This times a thousand.
His submission to the Constitutional Convention on SSM whereby he misrepresented the findings of the Child Trends study* is a good starting point.
*The study begins with:
“Note: This Child Trends brief summarizes research conducted
in 2002, when neither same-sex parents nor adoptive parents
were identified in large national surveys. Therefore, no
conclusions can be drawn from this research about the wellbeing
of children raised by same-sex parents or adoptive
parents.”
Think this stopped Quinn?
I hate them because the 1950’s refuses to take them back.
Ahh comment deleted … Aparantly you are allowed compare someone to a lady part but not a badgers nether regions … what gives ?

But here we are again talking about the Iona rhymes with punts
I thought Iona sewed up the pockets & zip to prevent even accidental manual genital manipulation…
There is only one Sheik Yahbouti
This is confusing me…
Which is why he sheds it every 3 years. One year the mouthhole got stuck to the butthole and he had to squirm around in a circle for hours until someone came along and gnawed an escape hole.
this made way more sense when it was a reply to a now-deleted comment.
My comment was deleted….. here, I’ll try again….
IONA Institute have no credibility and they lie and misinterpret research intentionally to mislead, they have no right to be at aqny debating table when they are known to conduct themselves as such.
Even Norris in the Seanad has had a go at the liar David Quinn – http://www.thejournal.ie/david-norris-iona-institute-constitutional-convention-875170-Apr2013/
Yeah my comment about Quinn’s misleading submission to the Constitutional Convention on SSM got deleted too.
Odd behaviour from BS…. must have a freaked out intern at the desk or something…. :)
Seriously?! That has to be the softest deletion ever.
BS being very careful on this one!
There is a sadness in his face, as there is in all our faces.
…I’m donating some fava beans and a bottle of Chianti…
Is that a photo of a guy from the 1950s.
With a 1950s view of the world and Ireland.
Actually looks like a trendy priest.
He’d give trendy priests a bad name, in fairness….
Yes, they are mainly gay.
Looks a bit like Dermot Morgan, the father Trendy, skit he used to do.
In the high pitched country voice, telling ye, no seriously, i am telling you, Jesus is coming back.
No, don`t be laughing, i am, serious.
Well he said he would be back but he was not sure exactly when.
…………….BANE????
