re. the boxing teams generally yes I agree…’twas idiotic jobsworth nonsense to let him head to the U.S…..however a more likely reason for Katie’s drop in form is much much closer to home supposedly

do hope she rises above this as she’s been one outstanding ambassador for sport and an inspirational sportswoman to so many

          DUDE SHUT UP

Katie Taylor can marry a wall if that’s her belief. As long as she doesn’t make me marry one, I don’t give two sh%^& what she thinks. And that’s as it should be. I don’t see her spouting her views unless she is asked about them. Good for her. Unless KT is down at the registry office physically punching you and your boyfriend in the face to stop you getting married or flying to England to slap a pill out of your hand at Marie Stopes, then she has done nothing to you.

There was little chance of her winning good this time anyway. She’s not half the boxer she was. Time catches up on all of us. She’s been a fantastic servant to the sport and a wonderful person.

I didn’t say anything about her being athletic. Stop being a knob.

          1. Cot

She refused to support the marriage equality campaign, she was asked. Anyway, it doesn’t matter any more, her miserable little life just ended in Rio.

You’re a miserable individual altogether. It’s sunny. Buy yourself a Cornetto and try smiling.

          3. Charlie

Cot. Is she’s “miserable” you must be very lonely and destitute. Seriously dude, how did you get like unhappy?

        2. Guy Bague

The infantilism of Generation Snowflake knows no abounds. F**k your REPEAL you sectarian creep.

No split decision has gone right for us this Olympics. I’m not blaming anyone but I lay the finger of blame squarely on O’Reilly. Irish boxing is tainted because of him.

  2. RuilleBuille

Well done to the Irish Amateur Boxing Association for making a shambles of our boxing team.

They shouldn’t be given another penny of taxpayers money until the whole board leaves.

  3. Junkface

Hard luck to Katie, but she didn’t dominate that fight at all. Seems like the judges reward the more agressive fighter (even if their punches aren’t landing) than the type of fighter who skillfully picks off their opponent from range.

  4. Tish Mahorey

Cot is a precursor the the nasty tirade against Katie Taylor that’s been waiting in the wings, just dying for her to lose. And a well known national newspaper is probably going to lead that charge, starting off with suggestive little snide remarks and articles about her private life.

KT was and is a great example to aspiring sportspeople. She won 18 golds in world games. Amazing.

Jesus that interview is hard to watch.

Hard luck Katie, You’ve been amazing for a long time now, no shame in this at all.

  7. Junkface

None of the Irish boxers I’ve seen so far (4 fights) have fought with enough aggression actually. They all look timid in the ring, then they realise too late and try very hard in the last round but by then its too late. Its a pity compared to 2012 in London.

  8. bsteve knievel

she did mention the man upstairs, the carpenter, sometimes the plans you have are not gods plans she said.

  9. Spaghetti Hoop

Sad news (can’t get the fight or interview online) but perhaps she’s over her peak. A wonderful boxing talent and her career will go on ahead of all of those wins for her country.

  10. Bort

It’s grand, sure tis God’s plan. I’m a big fan of Katie Taylor and I don’t care what her beliefs are but she consistently drops God or Jesus into every interview and that doesn’t wash well with me. Hope this won’t be the end of her career but I really hope she doesn’t hit the evangelist road.

We could be witnessing the beginning of her chyrsalis stage before she emerges as the new Queen of the Dana-Rosemary-Scallonite movement. We’ll look back on the Olympics how we looked back at the innocent days of All Kinds Of Everything. ;)

Hard luck to her though. I don’t think the interview was hard to watch, she handled herself well and was very graceful in defeat, which really reveals more about the character of a sportsperson than any amount of wins. She’ll bounce back, down but not out.
