Garda rapid response team did a great job capturing a would be assassin in Dublin.

Not much “fury” at the EU from Noonan when our nation was being stitched up in the bank bail out. Absolutely sickening.
Kieran NYC
I think you’ll find you’re wrong. He was in opposition at the time (not Finance Spokesperson) but FG were livid.

So, the conversion by Noonan of the ‘promissary note’ into sovreign debt passed you by, KFC. Right so.
Kieran NYC
Oh of course. Paul Murphy would have turned it into magical fairy dust and gotten off scot free. Unlike Greece, of course.
We’re lucky you live in MA where your vote can’t do any harm. Either to Ireland or the US.

@Kieran NYC
If Noonan kicked up the same fuss as he is now*, with something that we’ve no legal obligation to take on, wouldn’t it have been possible to avoid?
*Bearing in mind that he wouldn’t even have to legally appeal anything in that situation.

Don’t waste your time with Kieran, he’ll defend FG no matter what BS they get up to.

But hey, they may have parked on double yellow lines! JAIL THE GUARDS NOW!

They only care about multi nationals, “tax is only for little people”. 13 Billion. Imagine what we could do with that. “A great little country to do business in”.

The arguable cost benefit analysis is the amount of future investment we’d lose by:
1) making our legal & tax systems seem subject to large-scale, restrospective, future changes.
2) by indicating to multinationals that they need to get themselves closer to the Brussels-Berlin-Paris axis to avoid being shaken down.
I’m personally not sure that 1 & 2 really would overshadow the 13bn but there’s a reasonable argument there.

I wonder if the 150M lawsuit against the Daily Mail for suggesting Donald Trumps wife was an “escort” (nudge nudge wink wink) will affect the Irish Daily Mail..

We can but hope both are out of business come November.

Noonan lets rip? Maybe after a large steak and a pint.
Kenny ‘Europe trying to bully Ireland’ Really? Fleecing us for Germany/France investors debts, telling us that there a bomb would go off in Dublin – was that not bullying?
Government bites back?
This is an excercise in optics. This ruling has been well flagged. This ruling was not made without an ongoing engagement with Noonan etc. He and Kenny knew well what was coming down the line, for years now. Phil Hogan, our most popular patriot, signed off on this decision in Europe.
The Hoo-ha and faux outrage is just optics. These FGers and FFers have sold Ireland down the Swanee. Intentionally. They’ve gifted a complete country to Germany – the French and Italians don’t realise it, but it’s actually Germany that rules the roost. Brussels and Strasbourg the centre of the EU.? Hah. Small islands off the Italian coast and the like are the places where the real decisions are taken by 3 ‘leaders’. Well, one leader and two fall guys.

It’s nice to think someone’s in charge.

Germany is a well run country.

“One thing is for certain: there is no stopping them; the Germans will soon be here. And I for one welcome our new Aryan overlords. I’d like to remind them that as a spineless gimp I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground bratwurst caves.”

Cavan Targedy – No Mass Murder by hateful and despicable man, who planned the brutal murder of his with and children. The children were stabbed and hacked to death, and given their ages it is highly unlikely that they weren’t aware of what was happening to their siblings before it happened to them.
It is also despicable that the media have placed the women, wife and mother in the shadows. And that this sick b*stard was allowed to be buried with his victims, This may be the decision of the family, but in such cases the common good should overall rule this. What message does this all send to other would be brutal child murderers?
I’m disgusted by the man and ashamed of the reaction of the media, the local community and surviving family members.

Can’t disagree with you cousin – this decent, mass going, GAA supporting gentleman’s need for total control over the people he owned must supercede any consideration of what a woman and three children might have wanted. They didn’t get the chance to see if “they could manage without him” or not.
