If anything, The Scum should be boycotted because of front pages like *that*
Sheik Yahbouti
Wot, because it shows up Enda, yet again?
Kieran NYC
Are you kidding? It pervily uses the death of an underage teen girl as an excuse to post a glamour picture and you’re so blinded by hate, you want to take a swipe at Enda because politics?
Twunt
ah here, there are many reasons to boycott the sun, but they’ve not overstepped the mark here.
Sheik Yahbouti
Ah, KFC, man up and let’s have less hysteria – “blinded by hatred”!! . The stock in trade of the mini -rags is dross of the type you rightly condemn. They are trash, and everybody knows it. However, when Enda gives in (on practically a weekly basis) to his “inner eejit” it reflects on me and every other citizen of this country. Do you really not see the problem?
That sh*t be creepy when papers, any of them, do that…. :/
Feidlim MacSásta
The Indo were at it too. Weird.
Brother Barnabas
then we wouldn’t get to see Kim’s baps

UKIP – nice. When does the civil war start?
Twunt
Supposedly he started the row by asking to other guy to step outside.
Dόn Pídgéόní
Ah come on now. I’m starting to genuinely frightened about living in the UK and what it means for me and mine that politicians can start brawling in public, sending one of them to hospital. I don’t even really care what happened, I just want it to stop.
Bob
There’s a certain irony of him getting free medical care because he’s an EU citizen.
Spaghetti Hoop
Is the TES the ‘guest’ publication ala Whose Line is it Anyway style?
Looking forward to Camping and Caravans, the Railway Model-builder etc.
Starina
for once – thanks, Irish Times. can we have our referendum now, please? none of this assembly rubbish
Jess
Think before that we’re obliged to disregard the woman on the right’s opinion because she has dyed hair or something.
rob
Wow. Thanks for the nothingness
Jess
Your welcome. Would you also care for some deflection and whataboutism?
Seosamh
Yup. Clearly unstable
Zuppy International
Tell us what the alternative to the 8th is. Lay out your plans in detail. Are their any limits on the claimed right to choose to kill babies?
Then we can vote.
MoyestWithExcitement
74% already want it repealed. We can vote now. You will lose.
rotide
The entire point is that there should not be an alternative. The process can be dealt with by legislation and caselaw, it doesn’t need to be constituitionally enshrined.
Zuppy International
Nobody wants to detail their plans for the baby murder machine.
Why is that?
MoyestWithExcitement
Nobody needs to. The vote can proceed without your approval and considering 74% want the 8th gone, the vote will pass without your conditions.
Faecal Matters
and now folks it’s Trollbot
Here we go for another exciting day at Troll Towers
Today Trollbot will teach us all
a) how to vote
b) make sexist, racist, defamatory comments
c) take the higher moral ground in everything
d) label anyone who calls him on it a ‘shut-in’
e) say the same stuff over and over and over and over and over and over and over
day in day out
day in day out
day in day out
should be gripping
hold on to your skinny double moccachinos
Zuppy International
Well you do need to outline the alternative to the 8th before repealing it, otherwise it’s all a scam orchestrated by special interests (Soros et al).
The Irish Times fake poll is part of the strategy. 74% my bottom.
MoyestWithExcitement
“Well you do need to outline the alternative to the 8th before repealing it”
Says who? You? You don’t matter. You’re just a bunch of words on a computer screen. 74% want the 8th gone. Nobody wants nor needs an alternative. Nobody needs your permission. The country will move on without you.
ReproBertie
Why don’t we leave the details to the medical experts who will, undoubtedly, be consulted by government when it comes to drawing up the legislation to be implemented following a successful referendum to repeal the 8th?
Jusayinlike
Get a life moyes nobody cares

What about the Central Bank payouts thet made themselves, have they forgotten
about Patrick Neary and the rest of them.

Why is the British model the only one that’s referenced?
Shouldn’t there be a review of international best practice.
Spain has abortion by choice up to 12 weeks, based one medical grounds thereafter.
Canada has no limits but its based fully in context of mainstream obgyn care, in hospitals and not in private clinics.
Bottom line is that 8th has to go, so that we can actually work out the details.
ReproBertie
Because Britain is where Irish women go.
Steve
Im for full repeal but huh maybe Enda was right. A vote to repeal wouldn’t pass. How many of the 55 would join the 19 in full repeal?
LW
Repeal would have to happen anyway Steve, as I understand it. I don’t think even restricted abortion is compatible with the 8th
Steve
Oh yeah sorry you’re right about removal , but the legislation that follows. That said I’m guessing that Enda meant a U.K style regime wouldn’t pass if ran now, when he said back in June, a repeal wouldn’t pass.
We should vote on limited abortion, get they passed and move from there…gives us freedom, not the ultimate freedom, but freedom to achieve it.
Too dodgy to vote on full repeal and lose . Which would put movement back 20 years
Seosamh
Not necessarily. We can have as many referenda as we want until we get the desired result. It’s worked before
Sheik Yahbouti
Wrong.
LW
I personally think Enda was talking through his hoop, but I’m not overly fond of the man. I believe, but could be wrong, that once the 8th is repealed, abortion could be brought in by legislation not requiring a referendum. I don’t think the actual act will be voted on. I expect that the anti-choice side will frame a vote for repeal as a vote for full abortion, which could make the result a bit tighter than the poll.
rotide
That’s exactly what’s going to happen and those poll numbers only show how tight the poll could actually be.
Think of the 55% as swing votes and it starts to become clear what could happen.
ReproBertie
No, Enda’s pretty far from right based on that poll. The 55 on their own would be enough to pass a referendum to repeal.
only 18% said don’t repeal and 8% said they didn’t know. That’s not enough to prevent a repeal referendum passing.
Sheik Yahbouti
Too true, Bertie. The question is how much longer they’re prepared to allow us to dump our “problem” on them.
LW
Canada seems to have the most mature system, that I’ve heard of anyway
rotide
Germany’s system is the most mature one I’ve come across.
MoyestWithExcitement
74% of the country want the 8th repealed. All the chatter about toning the campaign down to win over voters is unnecessary and only comes from people who oppose abortion or misogynists. It’s really about telling women and free thinking people in general that they still have to ask permission from Catholic Ireland and men; that they need approval; that they’re still second class. This poll proves that to be bullshyt. Ireland will move on without the conservatives and misogynists.

I’m astonished the figure for full access is so low.
According to that poll the figures for people in favor of no abortion at all and people wanting abortion for more than just FFA etc are pretty much exactly the same.
Steve
Well in this broadsheet hipster bubble we don’t run into that many 60 year old farmers from belturbet.
