Shawl Ready For This?

Last week, following a mountain of controversy, we offered one of the divisive scarfs of choice by Berriblue (above) to a reader who could successfully complete this couplet:

My scarf is a little red,
My scarf is a little blue…

You replied in your dozens.

But there could be only one winner…

Berriblue and husband Wilim write:

All of the non trolling entries were really good. It was genuinely hard to pick. We ended up being picky with grammar and metre. In the end, we’ve decided on Ultan‘s entry:

‘My scarf is a little red,
My scarf is a little blue,
What she does with her body
Has nothing to do with you.’

Liking the rhythmic triplet on ‘nothing to.’ Certainly employed as a technique to add emphasis to a wonderful, simply articulated point….

FIGHT!

Thanks all.

Ah here! No offence to Ultan, but Mildred deserved the scarf far more for her poignant and rather fragrant rhyming!

Ultan, I’m real happy for you, Imma let you finish, but Mildred had one of the best rhymes of all time! One of the best rhymes of all time!!

I don’t think people questioning why you only donate half the takings of a ‘fund raising scarf’ are ‘trolls’.

My guess is they don’t live on fresh air like the rest of us which is why we all donate 100% of everything to charity.

No they make a living from arts and crafts. So why then produce a piece for charity but then only hand over half the profits? That means you are profiting off a charitable cause. If one scarf costs lets say €10 to make, then €40 is profit. All of that should go to Repealthe8th. Why keep half the profits?

They really need to clear this up.

        1. Nigel

No they don’t. They tell you up front how much of the profits go to the charity. If you don’t think it’s enough don’t buy it. Since they’re the ones doing the work they get to decide how much goes to them and how much to the charity. The only thing they have to be is clear and up front about it. Your outrage is unreasonable, arbitrary, petty and disproportionate.
