Front page of today’s The Times Ireland edition and US president-elect Donald Trump being interviewed by Britain’s former Secretary of State for Justice Michael Gove and Kai Diekmann of German newspaper Bild

Further to the Donald Trump interview in today’s Times – by Michael Gove and Oliver Wright…

In which, Mr Trump said:

“I own a big property in Ireland, magnificent property called Doonbeg. What happened is I went for an approval to do this massive, beautiful expansion — that was when I was a developer, now I couldn’t care less about it . . . but I learnt a lot because . . . they were using environmental tricks to stop a project from being built.

“I found it to be a very unpleasant experience. To get the approvals from the EU would have taken years. I don’t think that’s good for a country like Ireland. So you know what I did? I said forget it, I’m not gonna build it.”

    hes a bullpoo artist!

he reckons playing the bully and acting the hardman will get him concessions and better “deals”

“travel restrictions” on EU citizens? lol! your having a laugh.

Trump and his associates think that because America has military might that this translates to far reaching influence over the rest of teh world. I think they misunderstand where that power comes from ie. its based on mutual interests, NATO notably. I think trump is in for a rude awakening.

Problem is American idiots will lap up this “hard man” bull. I wouldnt be surprised if he lasts the full term.

I wouldnt be to quick to expect he will be impeached.

you’d be kind of worried for anyone working at doonbeg. he’ll have no problem asset-stripping that place, laying everyone off and flogging it to the highest bidder.

        1. Increasing Displacement

          That’s usually the end game
Wonder how US citizens will feel when he starts doing that to their state?

What do you mean ‘asset-stripping that place’?

What assets are there apart from the place itself? The furniture? The window frames?

No dopey. Leveraged loans using the property as an asset to pay a dividend is what probably going on. Like Clerys. Remember how mental that was? Anyways…

First Doonbeg, now NATO and the EU. Trumptin (the new bromantic celebrity couple name I’m going with) are going all in. This was all set in motion when the EU tried to woo Ukraine and really pissed Putin off. Dark days. Really, really dark days.

In fairness, Doonbeg would make a great location for shooting the next Star Wars. Appeals to the same age group as the movie.
