He’s a Jesuit entertainment mogul, a knight of Malta, he’ll tango with his clergy buddies later on..

Nonsense. He’s married to his fifth wife at the moment, and I’ve never heard of him receiving catholic honours.

        5 mother in laws.
He deserves a medal for that as well *

        Les Dawson?
Yes, I’ve heard of him, why do you ask?

I dare whoever’s presenting him with the medal to stop, squint and say” ‘Hang on, you’re not Marty Whelan.’

    BFD.

Who cares about some student debating society? Or students? These are the same little narcissists who come “Fresher’s Week” will be inviting Milo Yiannopoulos to speak to their “This House Supports Freedom of Speech” debate; the bog-standard undergraduate vehicle for garning Facebook “likes”, a few column inches in the declining Irish TImes, and obtaining sponsorship for booze from banks in the hope of getting the leg over with the captain of the rugby team.

This is the same society that invited convicted Holocaust Denier David Irving to speak. That worked out well, didn’t it?

    Scorcese must be desperate.

…ah here…Trinity has a good record at preventing fascists from getting a platform to spew their venomous propaganda unopposed…the David Irving event was stopped…only this week the Friends of Palestine group managed to get a ‘talk’ from the zionist ambassador from the apartheid regime in israel cancelled…

      1. jusayinlike

The trinity gig was a sideshow, he met his clergy friends after for the real medal.
He’s being rewarded for producing the Anti-Japan Christian propaganda piece “Silence”.
The Japanese booted the Jesuits out in the nineteenth century and have never been forgiven, not even after 2 nukes it seems..

Is that the one with Liam Neeson that’s about three hours long and puts you to sleep? Glad I didn’t bother seeing it so…

Its meant to be awful muck alright.

The trailer bored me to tears. And I really don’t like Andrew Garfield, as a rule. I find him hard to watch without wanting to hit something.

          2. jusayinlike

It portrays the Japanese as xenophobic hate filled pagans who took a dislike to the Jesuits for no apparent reason, unfortunately nothing could be further from the truth, the Jesuits were thrown out of Japan for trying to hijack their daoist beliefs and subvert their politics. Germany and Spain also booted them out, they were also punished mercilessly (2 world wars, moors occupation). The Jesuits never forgive and never forget..

I thought I’d like it cos it reminded me of one of my favourite books, Shogun.
But it was a big load of hairy arse

    Excuse me…
I actually saw the movie you’re talking nonsense about.

The thing I took away from it was a questioning of blind faith, not an allegiance to any religion, or an anti-Japanese racism.

    You people… Jeezus…
You just don’t et it, do you?

  5. esǝɯǝɯʇɐpɐq

    *don’t GET it.

You don’t even try. You’d rather be annoyed and self-righteous.
    Right and wrong… Words…

    Whyshould you care?

    1. esǝɯǝɯʇɐpɐq

Seriously, if it was anything the movie ‘Silence’ was an Anti-Religion film.
It showed the barbarity that religion perpretated, in the name of being able to say who was ‘god’. With absolution.

You give your life to ‘God’.
      – You throw your life away

      1. esǝɯǝɯʇɐpɐq

        Seriously. ?.
        Listen to me…

If you are gay you don’t have to be a priest or a nun anymore.
        Those days are over..

You should hang on to the uniform though…
        It’s mad sexy.
The more Catholic the better is what I say…

I’m surprised they had TCD security looking after him given that TCD security are the most inept bunch of wannabe-cops mankind has ever seen. Maybe he parked without a permit on campus?

a gold medal? sounds vague. i thought it was Degrees they dished out to literally any visiting celebrity? now they’re giving them medals they bought in Tiger across the road.
