Ah, give them a break lads. Given the incredible level of conservatism and abject religiosity in this country, any counter balance should be welcome. They will grow, and that will be no bad thing.

    Solidarity – original? not much.
    “Alternative” – meh.
The star has a FIne Gael resonance to it.
Well, at least we know they didn’t spend a fortune on the re-branding.

He’s a saint now, so he’s got it covered.

To be honest, I think it’s a smart move. Would be even smarter if PBP was dropped too….just brand the whole thing under one name…until the split that is.

  2. Nigel

If they get reduced to one member they can change it to Solitarity. When he plays cards it can be Solitairity. If there’s a period of high sun-spot activity, they can be Solarflarity. If they go see a film about a plane that makes an emergency langdng on a river it can be Sullyairwetty.

This is literally all I have to offer in the realm of politics.

  3. Starina

AAA sounds like a one-policy party. Solidarity potentially encompasses a lot more. Not an original name, though. Niezależny Samorządny Związek Zawodowy Solidarność!

When the split does come one crowd will have a banner using the Judean People’s Font and the other using the People’s Font Of Judea.

So we now have the Alt-Left. Does this mean that Left is now right of Alt-Left? Is anyone left of Alt-Left?

    1. Anomanomanom

Haha haha Paul Murphy helping the poor haha. The man would jump on any bandwagon that he thinks will get him re elected

    2. Rainy Day

Yes…but you see to help the poor they want to take some money from the rich…..and they don’t like that….because if that happens they will be a little less rich.

  5. DubLoony

Well, someone didn’t do their homework.
Looks remarkably like the FG logo.

Why do they not just call it socialist Party & be done with the fronts? Do they not have courage of their convictions?

    1. MoyestWithExcitement

Why don’t you call yourselves The Neoliberals Who Used To Represent The Working Class But Sold Them Out For Power Party?

      1. MoyestWithExcitement

Totally forgot when I wrote that about Jason Chaffetz. He more or less said the same thing as Joan Burton did. The leader of the Irish Labour Party has the same attitude towards the working class as Jasson Chaffetz of the Trump-GOP reigme.

lads, if ye are reading this, stop. from someone who likes what ye say and would be inclined to vote for ye, what’s with all the name changes?
like AAA, PBP, ULA and now solidarity? what was wrong with plain ol simple Socialist Party?

let this be the last of it

  7. Boj

That was some smarmy tweet from Leo, more telling of him than these other shysters.
You can almost hear the smug sniggering from him.

    1. MoyestWithExcitement

+1 ‘Surrender’ was an interesting choice of word. I really the possibility of him becoming Taoiseach.

      1. Seosamh

It doesn’t even make sense like, why would Leo want to be known as the pro-austerity politician

  8. RuilleBuille

They must be seeking CIA funding like the original Solidarity. After all they did their best to wreck the Water Charges movement.
