This afternoon.

The Spire, O’Connell Street, Dublin 1

Some members of Ireland’s Tibetan community hold a vigil to mark the 58th anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising of 1959 and the 9th anniversary of the Uprisings of 2008, when thousands of Tibetans rose up against China’s occupation of Tibet.

Tibetans and supporters mark March 10 each year to show solidarity with Tibetans inside Tibet and to honour and support the resistance to Chinese rule that continues to this day.

What is the Western fascination with this dreadful man? He thinks he is a living God who wants to return to be absolute ruler of the people of Tibet. The so-called ‘revolution’ of 1959 was the monks revolting over the abolition of serfdom (which they benefited from greatly). In 2008 thousands of Chinese civilians were attacked and massacred.

Have we learned no lessons from arming the proponents of theocracy? Look at the terrible theocracies in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Israel, Afghanistan and the newly Western created regime in Libya and the attempt to insert them into Iraq and Syria.

There’s a vid. of John Oliver interviewing the DL.

Hilarious. JO & the DL are cool as a breeze.

Saw that actually. Very funny stuff.

And John Oliver does a good job of explaining the Tibet/China situation. Worth a watch.

I like that the format of his show allows him to go in-depth on a topic.

Samantha Bee is fantastic for the short, sharp stuff.

The Daily Show with Trevor Noah has kind of slipped into irrelevance.
