The Taoiseach has had to explain
Why won’t bring his shamrock by plane
A wee bit of snow
Means that plan’s a no-go
So he’ll have to make do with a train.

Meanwhile…
Scenes Of Moderate Violence, the debut collection of poems from John Moynes (above), is currently being crowdfunded.
You can support John’s work here.

Publishing your own poetry is a cop out and the work will never be taken seriously. Writers must take the route every other published poet has taken or forever spend the rest of their days outside Bewelys hawking their books for sale to passersby.
Isn’t this being crowdfunded?
In that case it’s not really vanity publishing is it?
However don’t let that prevent you from attacking the artist guy (who works for Broadsheet and therefore can’t really hit back to defend himself) but, who, (based on the overwhelming evidence of this thread alone :( 0 ) is probably better than you in every single respect apart from his ability to make hairdressers appointments.

+1 :)
Publishing has changed, Eamon, and self-publishing is pretty much the only route now for poetry, especially.
And crowd-funded stuff is very different to vanity-publishing, which JM’s stuff clearly isn’t.
Other unkempt no-hopers who published their own poetry include Byron, Shelley, Eliot, Poe and all three Bronte sisters. I haven’t included Yeats, because he got his dad to pay.
Some of the very best Irish Poetry I’ve ever owned read was self-published by Pat Ingoldsby. It’s more a reflection of your own character that you could be so dismissive of a poet like Pat and how he chose to share his work.
There are so many failed right wing artists out there. You’re one, I’m guessing?
Let’s hope the poetry venture will stem the incessant flow of limericks.
I didn’t like the limericks initially for a fair while, but they are kind of growing on me now
The Scots gave the Tories a shock
‘Cos they won’t get back in their box
But in order to do that
You need a leader not a prat
Nicola Sturgeon for Taoiseach!
I’ll get me coat, thanks
Has potential.
Not as easy as it looks so :)
Sturgeon. Kind of a fish.
Gave Old Hibernians their wish.
Said: “Brits don’t give a shiiite
EU will bribe yous to unite.
Then we’ll all be Scotland-Ireland-ish”.
I’m very busy right now
But if anyone wants to know how
To succeed in rhyming
Come back with better timing
Maybe when the Moon is aglow
“Moynes has no children, but one of his poems is framed on the wall of his local, which in his eyes is a far greater achievement”
The above is a chilling insight into Moynes’ misanthropic character.
…or maybe he doesn’t have kids, and this is his humorous equivalent of a pic held up with a fridge magnet. But, sure…what would i know.
I love how the biggest of mouths
Are always bereft of self-doubts
Like as if they had ever
Had creative endeavour.
Instead they’re just Internet Louts.
Keep on rocking John.
There’s poetry in poetry.
Am I the only one who hopes that Kenny’s train gets cancelled?
