London were very prepared for this, and the casualties could have been more. Plenty of incised radicals in a 60million populated Britain, alas.

      1. Spaghetti Hoop

I didn’t mention race or religion. I was referring to the disenchanted and radicalized. The people who attack their enemies in the street. It’s particularly acute right now in Britain.

      1. whut

the IRA were trying to liberate northern ireland from the brits. what happened in london is mindless and without an achievable agenda.

        1. MoyestWithExcitement

Yeah. Totally unachievable. Unlike the IRA’s campaign. What a glorious day it was when we became a 32 county republ..oh.

          1. whut

moyest. the IRA’s goal was more achievable than whatever london dudes goal was, i presume if it’s ISIS related its just to kill everyone who isn’t a radical islamist. whatever ISIS’ goal is, it’s bonkers madman stuff. Im not saying im ok with IRA bombings, its just in response to someone saying this attack is the same as what mcguinness and the ira were at. so im outlining the massive difference.

          2. MoyestWithExcitement

Yeah, massive difference. White people did the IRA stuff so we know they were 3 dimensional, flawed human beings who made mistakes. ISIS are brown people and we know those guys are subhuman monsters.

          3. MoyestWithExcitement

Is that what you drink when you’re crying over being rightly called out for your disgusting racism?

          4. whut

weird that you made it about race. i’ll reiterate, very simply. The IRA used terror tactics to try liberate where they’re from, from an imperialistic invader. ISIS use terror tactics to create unrest and mayhem within the entire western world. aimed at anyone who isn’t like them. one agenda (IRA) was more achievable. again, i dont condone terror actions. the other agenda (ISIS) is to take down the entire western world. unachievable madman stuff based on religion, which is the biggest destructor of human life since day dot.

now that’s pretty straight forward i think. at no point does race come into it. ISIS are stone cold crazy, and completely undefendable, regardless of where theyre from. would you defend westboro baptist church if they were all black, just because theyre black?

          5. MoyestWithExcitement

“weird that you made it about race.”

Nah, Occams Razor. You’re trying to elevate one terrorist group over another. Can’t be too many reasons for that.

“The IRA used terror tactics to try liberate where they’re from, from an imperialistic invader.”

According to their own Red Book, it was about showing the British public that their security forces can’t protect them. Terror and death was their aim.

“ISIS use terror tactics to create unrest and mayhem within the entire western world.”

Actually, they think they’re trying to liberate the Middle East from western imperialists and protect Muslims living in western countries from societal forces that hate them. Replace Middle East with Ireland, and Muslims in western countries with Irish in the UK, and you have the same reasons for killing people that you say the IRA has.

“the other agenda (ISIS) is to take down the entire western world.”

No it isn’t. That’s a meme started by paranoid racists who see all brown people as unthinking monsters. Like you do.

          6. whut

this is gas. yea im a big ol racist. that’s whats goin on here. no. and ultimately the IRAs agenda was to liberate NI. their goal wasn’t just terror and thats all. also, you’re defending ISIS which is bonkers. ur justifying their goals, they are totally mental. and they arent fighting for muslims around the world, sure they kill rakes of muslims and people all across the middle east.

          7. MoyestWithExcitement

If I’m defending ISIS, you’re defending the IRA. Except you actually ARE defending the IRA. Those are good terrorists, according to you and the brown ones are crazy and subhuman. That is literal racism.

          8. spudnick

Jesus Moyest, I don’t know if you reward yourself with a biscuit every time you manage to shout ‘racism!!!!’, but it’ must be the only plausible answer. The IRA’s *methods* were in service of achieving a united Ireland. Reprehensible though they may have been, at least you could see heads round a table working that discussion out. IS have repeatedly stated that it is impossible for Muslims and the infidel to live together in the same land. In multicultural Europe today, how do you see that one working out? It IS mindless, religion has a major part to play in it, and to call that racism is deflection.

          9. MoyestWithExcitement

*Complains about something being called out as racism. Proceeds to use racist memes in his argument*

          10. whut

moyest. im not racist. and no part of what i said was racist. you jammed it in there for some weird reason. and i said i dont condone IRA bombings etc., im just saying the IRA and ISIS are wildy different. and youre just shouting racist back to me. its beyond weird. youre gas. i think ur hearts in the right place, but ur mind.. ur mind is gone.

          11. MoyestWithExcitement

I believe you’re not consciously racist but then hardly any racists think they’re racist. You elevated white terrrorists over Arab ones. You painted one as justified and reasonable and the other as crazy. That’s racism, buddy. That’s your subconsious fear of people who don’t look like you at play. In fairness, that stopped our cavemen ancestors from getting killed but we have books and things now.

          12. spudnick

Yep, the stated aims of IS are actually those of peaceful cooperation and achievable multiculturalism despite what all the fascist racists are telling us. To suspect otherwise is to betray your own horrible prejudices. I’m glad to have been schooled today.

I’m reminded of Robert Fisk’s account of being beaten up by an Afghan mob while thinking “I…*thud* deserve *whack*… this… *boot*”

          13. MoyestWithExcitement

Wahey! And now Broadsheet’s Resident Protected Racist joins in. Like moths to a flame.

        2. scottser

arguably, the terrorist’s intention is erode liberty by forcing the state to increase security and surveillance. this shows the state to be a dishonest, ugly, unmerciful entity. as the citizens become more isolated and disillusioned, the terrorists’ numbers grow.

        3. whut

im not racist. and how dare you call me racist. to flippantly suggest i hate (subconsiously or not) other races than my own is very offensive and completely without base. the reasons i (repeatedly) outlined between the IRA and ISIS are nothing to do with race. the two groups are incredibley different and no way comparable. if both groups were white and doing what theyre doing, id be saying the same thing. you’re completely insane.

          1. MoyestWithExcitement

            “completely without base”

Obviously it isn’t seeing as I explained the reasons for my conclusion. White terrorists = liberators. Arab terrorists = crazy.

          2. whut

yea you’re just completely ignoring my points tho, and just no matter what i say you’re just calling me a racist. its’ dumb. you’re a troll. and im a worse eejit for goin responding to such a troll. like, going by ur rationale, i can just say, no actually you’re racist. so now im doing that. you’re racist. race was nothing to do with this, but because your own latent racism you made it about race to try to exonerate ur own guilt. you racist. you big smelly racist.

          3. MoyestWithExcitement

Calm down, petal. It’s my actual opinion that your views on Arab terrorists are steeped in racism. I didn’t make you say the things you said.

      2. brownsyndrome

Left wing Islamist apologists out in force of course. Of course the call the prayer should be heard 5 times a day, we have the anguelus on TV and church bells, it would be racists not to

  2. Shane

Just another deluded sick Twit with no logical or even achievable agenda
    Just horrific depressing lunacy

  3. Shayna

The picture in “The Independent” of the cop with his weapon addressed to the assailant/perpetrator whilst emergency services try to save his life is chilling.

  4. jusayinlike

    Total and utter fake terror..

Just the ticket to have another shot at carpet bombing Syria..

        1. ReproBertie

Which part is fake? Personally I see the fear and terror part as being manufactured so that could be considered fake. The usual suspects are all over the media talking about refugees, immigrants, London being on lockdown and the general failure of multiculturalism.

Meanwhile the attacker has been confirmed as a man born in Britain. Will this be used as an excuse to carpet bomb Birmingham?

    1. Bob

And that would mean something if this guy had been on a boat, not in a car. Again, stop being stupid.

      1. jusayinlike

The mock rescue on the Thames three days before someone falls into the Thames during a “real” attack..
        That’s some coincidence..

  5. Kenny Plank

Little or no difference in coverage – the oh-so-right on Guardian right up there with the panic too. Scratch all Brit media and they’re the same.

We hear from our politicians and MSM, based on the flimsiest evidence, that they are 100% sure of the correlation between atmospheric CO2 and the weather.

Yet when we look at current terrorism, there is one -100% correlating factor, between the lone-wolves, Norwegians, psychiatric day patients, who commit these acts.
Yet the politicians and MSM choose to ignore this fact.

I wonder how you can be sure of one thing based on flimsy evidence and completely unaware of another thing, despite it staring you in the face, on a day to day basis.

    1. MoyestWithExcitement

“We hear from our politicians and MSM, based on the flimsiest evidence, that they are 100% sure of the correlation between atmospheric CO2 and the weather.”

      And 97% of scientists.

“there is one -100% correlating factor, between the lone-wolves, Norwegians, psychiatric day patients, who commit these acts.”

      An inability to get laid?

  7. Clampers Outside!

” Acting Deputy Commissioner and head of counter-terrorism at the Metropolitan Police, Mark Rowley, said they think they know who he is and that he was inspired by international and Islamist-related terrorism, but gave no further details. ” BBC

Yet, people be like shoutin’ that it has nothing to do with Islam….

    * scratches head *

    Eh, OK.

    1. Bob

No, people are shouting “Not every Muslim is a terrorist” while others are shouting “All Muslims are terrorists”.

        1. Bob

Can’t really fault people pointing out that all muslims aren’t terrorists, as all muslims aren’t terrorists.

  8. Scoops yeah

Glad the IT droppped the Knifeman headline from yesterday. Kept putting me in mind of a Marvel character.

    1. ReproBertie

My favourite super powered character name was a short lived villain in Garth Ennis’s Hitman. The cover of the issue in question read “Night Fist. He will hit you with his fist!”

Yes, you all needed to know that and you’re welcome.

  9. Shayna

I’m not sure why my comment I left at 5.07 am was deleted – it was a compliment to a picture in “The Independent” – Oh well!
