Oh.

Meanwhile…

Hmm.

It’s all gone a bit Pete Tong.

Via Juliette Gash

Says the ‘sheet’s resident music head Mike McGrath-Bryan:

So, the line-up is out. Sold-out before a single name was announced.

Commentary/conjecture in the ‘Sheet tomorrow. First impressions: a tad heavy on nostalgia, to say the least. Still, though: Run the Jewels, Young Fathers, Parquet Courts, Phantogram. Well-played.

Ignore Seatwave, etc., too. People will invariably look to offload tix in the run-up, get them that way and stop feeding the beast.

Plenty of bands there I’d like to go see but not for 300 blips in, what is now, a completely overpacked field.

“The thing is, it’s not like other festivals. It’s just got such a great vibe. A cool atmosphere. No hassle or scumbags.”

    – every 40 year old bore that’s ever been.

Pete Tong, Tribe Called Quest, Duran Duran, Chaka Khan, The Pretenders. Does nobody under 35 go to the Picnic? Or *puts on beret and fake stroking goatee* is this a sign of our worsening economy and growing wealth inequality in that under 35s don’t have the disposable income to go to music festivals anymore?

    1. Starina

my younger pals are all hyped over chaka kahn and i couldnt give a toss. real annoyed father john misty and perfume genius are playing, AGAIN, whyyyyyy can’t they play in Dublin instead?! *weeps and tears hair*

For everyone freaking out thinking of paying over the odds for a ticket…DON’T! Every year there’s people selling them a few days before for cost price or less. Plus it’s poo! If the maddest thing you’re going to do all year is dress up as a smurf and have the total bants at the Leccie Piccy every year, you are in fact a stale sap. There’s a hundred more fun, original things to do for way cheaper, better festivals that are a way better buzz. Not longitude obviously, that’s even worse

Rory Gallagher Festival in Ballyshannon, 1st – 4th June 2017.
Cheap as chips and a comprehensive education.

He’s an awful eejit. Not as much of an eejit as Bing, though.
I *despise* Bing. It’s a Bing Thing, see.

Erm, I’m just typing what the person next to me is saying. I’ve no idea about any of this and definitely cannot sing/hum theme tunes to everything on CBeebies.

            Bing. That little sh*t.

If I never see that little bunny again, it’d be too soon.

            What exactly is Flop anyway?

I think I’ll let you decide for yourself.

Watch kids tv at your own risk. Some of it is downright trippy.

I’ll add Arcadian Fields to the list.

Great bands. Less than 1000 people. You get to know everyone over the weekend. Bliss.

Probably explains why I’ve never been to a festival.
I have an irrational fear of Portaloos, which doesn’t help either.

I contracted festival-itis some years back. I do like when they’re televised, but give me a good gig in Workmans, Vicar St. any day.

Chas Smash no longer with them. Caught ’em last year, and The Brother came along, both of us giddy, waiting for the HEY YOU DON’T WATCH THAT…routine.

Never happened. They were good, but there was deffo something missing. Mind you, we were a bit back and the ground was waterlogged and it’s *very* hard to do the Baggy Trousers skank wearing wellies at the best of times… On the other hand, they did a cover of Highway to Hell, so, y’know, not all bad

It was fun, clampers, but I’d seen them in the Point in 2006 and they were utterly brilliant. I lost weight that night :)

@bertie – i’ll give it a listen. I fired up the Dangermen Sessions album last week and had a blast!

Oh what the hell, Mildred, or someone pretending to be Mildred, DM me on Twitter.

            Better? :)

          2. mildred st. meadowlark

            Yes :)

Though, I feel I must come clean now.

            I’m not on Twitter.

(don’t be duped by a false mildred)

          3. mildred st. meadowlark

You’ll confuse many people, but I’m tempted to say yes.

Also I think there’s a chance you’ll do it anyway, coz you’re cheeky like that. Puckish, even.

  5. Clampers Outside!

Nothing makes me go ‘whoop!’ in that lot.

Thank god for the early bird cheaper ticket price, which was reasonable value, even after seeing the line-up :)

Still though, its paid for now, and weather permitting, I think I’ll enjoy the weekend all the same. Fupp the moaners!

    1. Janet, I ate my avatar

Pete Tong tho? For memories alone I shall have to listen to that while throwing the hoover around now

        1. Janet, I ate my avatar

hey ! I’ll have to do the bathroom now too ! Being self employed is tough.

          1. Janet, I ate my avatar

naturally, gets any stray hair..I have a military aproach to housework to make up for my lack of discipline at work .ahh procrastination.

          2. Andyourpointiswhatexactly?

Erm, nobody. I wasn’t asking in a surprised way, more in a ‘Oh right, so do I, definitely’ way.
