Noting the Irish Examiner’s report on problems with Domestic Violence stats – you can be sure they’re warped. Gardai refused, even laughed me out of Wexford Garda station in 2010, when I and the HSE Senior Elder Abuse Caseworker tried to file a complaint of elder abuse/domestic violence, following a year of isolation, missed family and Public Health Nurse visits, and a highly suspicious admission to CCU in an unrowsable state. It was not my first time to try to do so. When family gained access to my mom’s home there were burnt bank statements in the fireplace/shredded statements in the bins, water/ESB/phone all cut off – yet hospital medical staff itself were unaware she would not be returning to her home. I returned alone a few days later, having learned even more frightening news from mom’s neighbours as well as other siblings and was again laughed out. Now the HSE hopes to learn from its mistakes in Mom’s case!! https://lineatatime.wordpress.com/2016/09/06/six-years-on/

‘We are leaving the European Union, but we are not leaving Europe’.
I don’t think the average British voter knows the difference, as illustrated by the top google search of ‘what is the EU’ in the run-up to the referendum. A BBC news bulletin years ago reported the then PM, Cameron, as ‘traveling to Europe for talks’. He was already in Europe before he left!

So they won’t express no confidence in the Garda Commissioner because it could amount to constructive dismissal. Bullpoo!! It’s likely that what has gone on amounts to Gross Misconduct which means one can be dismissed summarily if found to be true following an investigation. At a minimim she should be suspended with pay until completion of an investigation as is standard in these cases. Was she directly involved or aware of what was going on? Most likely she was, imo, considering her previous roles before being appointed Commissioner. Promoted to Assistant Commissioner and served in the Western Region followed by Human Resource Management and was appointed Assistant Commissioner, Crime and Security in June 2009. 2011: Promoted to Deputy Commissioner Operations. She had oversight and accountability for Garda Operations when all this was happening and to say she wasn’t aware is just simply not credible in my opinion.

Apparently there’ve been 17 Inquiries into the Gardaí in the past few years.

I would have thought that, in a Gaussian or Normal distribution that 2/3 would be average or below average,
