Heuston station this morning as secondary picketing takes place at several locations associated with the Bus Éireann dispute

All cabinet ministers are
Awarded a driver and car
So they say “laissez faire”
For why would you care
About little folk when you’re a tsar?

…don’t you mean strength (like the gardai)…solidarity…blackmail won’t work on the CIE workers…

Nice try. Even your deluded enough to be really using that as a comparison. Iv all stated, I might not agree with them, people have a right to strike. Unofficially striking and causing chaos for people is not acceptable, id sack all unofficial strikers.

So, for their actions you demand the ultimate sanction. They must cross pickets and become scabs or you’ll take away their livelihood, eh?? I will maintain my 1913 comparison thanks..

Bus drivers were facing a €200 a week pay cut so I can understand their reasons for striking.
However their actions are imposing similar pay cuts on those who use their services.
People who have already forked out for monthly / annual tickets and now have to pay extra for alternative means to get to work – taxis, trains etc. Those people are also affected financially as well.

The simplest solution for any strike is to accede to the demands of the strikers. That ensures that the strikers are happy and the public are not inconvenienced.

If I have this right Dublin bus drivers are refusing to cross the unofficial pickets on the depots. At the same time any Dublin buses that were out of the depots when the pickets arrived are finishing their routes (thus there are some buses on the roads) but once back in the depot they will not cross the unofficial picket to go out again.

Is that muckwit Shane Ross even out of bed yet? Adjudicate / mediate etc etc and do something except for looking like an absolute plank.

They’ve done a fine job of pissing everyone off. Which was their aim, right?

They might push the company(ies) into examinership too.

Wonder how much of a pay rise they’ll get then…

I just took the morning off till the rush died down and walked to the luas, so it wasn’t all that bad.

So you can all calm down, I’m at work now.

This whole thing was done, according to the strikers, is because Shane Ross was ignoring them and it was done without consulting the unions.

It is not the minister’s job to intervene in labour disputes. That’s what the Workplace Relations Commission is for.

Exactly, for once we have a transport minister actually doing the right thing and he gets lambasted. Oh and genuinely can’t stand Ross, but we’re so use to ministers interfering in the past and bertie age politics of throw money at it we bash Ross for not doing it. Do people really want another €9,000,000 handy over, because if no cuts and cost savings are not made then it’s the only way to solve it.

Dublin four screeching like a banshee when they are affected. Rural communities have been affected for a week and no such outcry.

Well done to the Bus Eireann workers who must do whatever it takes to win this fight.

    1. ReproBertie

How many people were affected yesterday? How many were affected today? It’s not about Dublin Vs the rest of the country.

  8. Starina

gwan the strikers. solidarity! (praying luas doesnt get involved in the picket, at least until i’m back in town)
