The same people that ran the Magdalene Laundries are to be handed ownership of the new National Maternity Hospital. That sounds like a Waterford Whispers piece. That is very depressing.

So the guard gets grilled. Do the two army guys get away with it? That’s about right. One law for the guards another for the ‘defence forces’.

Irish Sun has its news priorities – Garda porn, nuns & hospitals, and wild fighting. Who wants to read about a British snap election?

Who could possibly disagree? However, I like The Examiner – Ireland must stand ‘firm’ on Brexit! HAAAAAAAAAHAHAHA

pretty exaggerated graph there in the FT.
but yes, may is a dingus, and it would give this American observer glee to see corbyn win.

    Meanwhile, in south Dublin:

SDCC proposal to build 1,000 new homes, including 400 social housing units, is approved by 23 votes to 4.

    The dissenters? PBP & AAA – what a surprise…

    1. cluster

Was there a good reason they dissented?

I am all for building houses but that doesn’t mean greenlighting every single proposal.

      1. Rob_G

I understand what you mean, and am myself struggling to envisage the circumstances under which a large development, with 40% of units going to social housing, could be found objectionable by AAA-PBP.

So you didn’t bother to educate yourself as to their reasoning AND twice you’ve referred to them as PBP AAA as opposed to their actual name, Solidarity. That looks like the work of a paid up party member of FFG-Lab.

          1. Rob_G

Solidarity, PBP-AAA, or even the good old-fashioned ‘Socialist Party’, it seems a strange motion for them to vote against. I have not been able to find out anything as to why they opposed it on their website (in which they still refer to themselves as ‘AAA’ throughout, so I guess it is an easy enough mistake to make).

“Solidarity, PBP-AAA, or even the good old-fashioned ‘Socialist Party’,”

Their name is Solidarity. Twice on this thread you made a conscious decision to refer to them as their old name. That sounds like someone with a dog in the fight. You really should declare your affiliations in the name of honesty because it looks like a paid party member is pretending to care about people so he can attack a political rival.

          3. MoyestWithExcitement

Also, there are resources beyond their website if you’re truly interested and not just trying to score an opportunistic political point.

          4. Rob_G

Well, I understand that PBP is a separate organisation, so ‘PBP-AAA’, while still inaccurate, conveys greater clarity than ‘Solidarity’, and is a lot quicker to type than ‘Solidarity (formerly known as the Anti-Austerity Alliance, formerly known as the Socialist Party), and the People Before Profit Alliance’, and was fairly sure that everyone would know who I mean if I just typed ‘PBP AAA’.

Don’t have any political affiliations beyond ‘unaligned liberal’.

          5. MoyestWithExcitement

Solidarity is harder to type than AAA-PBP? That’s a terrible, and inaccurate, excuse. And my hairy hoop you’re a liberal. Liberals don’t back power over people every time.

    2. MoyestWithExcitement

As a matter of interest, did you read their reasoning or are you just interested in partisan bashing and pretending that you care about people. I wonder if I should take anything from your refusal to call them Solidarity….

Danny Dyer being nominated for an acting award is probably the most bizarre thing in today’s papers.

He’s royalty. Him and Eddie Redmayne and Benedict Cumberbatch and their ilk have Hollywood sewn up.

I know I’m usually a FG troll but paschal Donohues opinion piece in IT today is fupping random
