This afternoon.
The irish Film Institute, Temple Bar, Dublin 2
The launch of the Irish Adverts Project with top from left: Kasandra O’Connell, Head of the IFI Irish Film Archive, Michael O’Keeffe, CEO of the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, and Ross Keane, Director of the IFI.
The project is the culmination of an “18-month restoration initiative” which has seen a number of 35mm film television advertisements from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s catalogued, digitised, restored and preserved.
Finally.
The adverts are now free-to-view worldwide on the IFI Player here.
Includes CIE mind control.

I wonder if they found the old cartoon one from ButterKrust Bakers, sounded like Ronnie Drew sang the jingle ?
Just watched the PG Tips ad. It’s use of Nazi’s to sell tea was certainly thinking outside the box. This approach is a sad loss to the industry. The “politically correct” set would probably frown on the use of Nazi’s in promotion these days.

I felt their Cola was a better beverage. Just enough sugar in that tiny bottle.
I was more of an American Cream Soda man myself bitd
Can you still buy that stuff? Amazing amount of sugar in that liquid. What was the flavouring? Vanilla?
You can indeed.
Don’t buy it.
Keep your fond memories, it’s rank.
Good advice. I got a fit of the giddies on seeing Angel Delight (pink) in a centra, got it and brought it back – solemnly swore to my daughter that she was on the brink of a seminal moment in her life. Made a bit of a ceremony of the making of it, hammed it up a bit and voila. Except, jesus, it’s worse than rank. Even kids wouldn’t eat it. We had very low standards.
Some real diamonds in there.

Looking forward to other tea-time favourites such as the one for liver fluke vaccine!
Anyone remember the crappy ads made with 35mm still slides and a bored voiceover?
I remember having cousins from That London over to stay in the 80’s and they thought those ads were the best worst things they’d ever seen.
Can’t find the ‘Triple A Golden Maverick’ one. That ad looked so exciting, like for new wagon wheel bar or Rancheros. Ended up being for some wormer or manure or something. The deception!
Are Sarcoptic Mange mites (along with Hoose and Liver Fluke, real favourites of mine) making a comeback?
Eamonn Lally Menswear, Main Street Portlaoise. Always. Stylish.
The Corpo encouraging water conservation, wha?
