…I often wonder what Joyce would think of the ways he is remembered in his home town…
I think he actually might resent it. RTE types droning on about how many ‘milluns’ it adds to the economy, and middle aged notice boxes screaming “look at meeeee, I’m in costume”. Sorry.
…I’d say he’d love half of it…but I’m not sure which half. He never doubted his genius but even he would be surprised how revered he would become.
