Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney

When Simon expects you to fly
Get flying, and I’ll tell you why
Quite soon you will find
The fog’s all in your mind
And there’s no chance at all that you’ll die.

Cork airport is a death trap. The preferred site was near Middleton which is flatter and more centralized however cj haughey selected the land, owned by an associate of his, to be bought which is elevated and next to the coast and is often shrouded in clouds/fog

CJ – what a stroker. one of my fave stories is of him on the campaign trail in the 1979. the IRA are robbing guinness trains. CJ goes around the country and his team gives each pub a few kegs and tells the barman that he’ll be in that evening and there’ll be pints for everyone – no shorts. CJ is declared taoiseach.

Which one of em isn’t an arrogant-worm-fool?
Really, can anyone name a good solid reliable politician who honestly works for local & national issues. The only one jumping to my mind is the lovely Catherine Murphy.

I think there are a few good people in the Social Democrats. Róisín Shortall and Gary Gannon spring to mind.

‘Lovely’ is not a quality I would look for in an election candidate, but solid, reliable and hard-working is.

Mick Wallace has done *some* good work, in fairness to him, whatever other issues you have with him.

Had the misfortune to watch house of cards latest season (Should have ended it after 2-3 seasons) and they had a scene of a politician acting like a petulant child trying to bully the pilots of his private jet into doing something HE wanted. I rolled my eyes at the ridiculousness of that scene and now I see, it’s the norm for are fearless leaders…

          Yep, ludicrous plot twists galore.

          Shame really.

When it was good, it was very, very good.

In fairness it ended well, but yeah, the last 2 seasons have been poor compared to how good 1 and 2 were.

It’s what killed the Polish President Lech Kaczyński and 95 others when he insisted that the Polish Air Force Tu-154 land at Smolensk in fog, despite the lack of ILS approach equipment. It was only 7 years ago, so even in Coveney didn’t remember it, you can be sure professional pilots would have paid it some attention.

Simple Simon is not having a good time of it recently.

Harris, alone of all his cabinet colleagues, was the only one to bat for him in the recent leadership bunfight suggesting they’ve long had the measure of this tool.

    Coveny is getting battered lately.
If one was tickled by conspiracies, one would almost suggest there is something going on here…

A person with a strong sense of entitlement and who thinks he knows more about certain subjects than trained professionals ends up as a right wing politician? No, this can’t be right.
