Is it a Christopher Nolan joint – does he stop the action every ten minutes so that two characters can have a big long conversation explaining who the Germans are, why the British are fighting them, why Dunkerque is important, what WW2 is all about…

The opposite. It’s almost a silent movie. One of his best. Worth a trip to the cinema just for the sound design alone. The opening 5 minutes is goose bump inducing magic. Like yer Ma.
