Oh.

Always be careful of the underside of public toilet paper dispensers. This one is located in the Mater Private Hospital on Eccles street in Dublin, in a ward where eye surgeries are performed! (Yes I emailed management)…

Paper got stuck so I was taking a closer look to free it. Needless to say I spent about 4 hours washing my hands. Followed by 6 litres of sanitiser.

Old people maybe who don’t realise. Or kids or people coming out of anaesthetic… not the publics fault really but it’s a massive failure on the part of the management systems.

Newsflash: poopy on the underside of the hand paper dispenser “not publics fault”
Newsflash: poopy on the underside of the hand paper dispenser : blame management systems.

“Newsflash!” Sarcastic middle aged man from south county dublin writes a sarcastic comment on a quirky lefty news app.

Oh it’s another Irish public service SystemsFailure™.

Never mind, so. Glad we sorted that out.

A relative of mine was part of a hygiene audit in a large hospital about 3 years ago. Everything in the cubicles was checked including paper dispenser, door handle, flusher and all surfaces. Turned out the cleanest part was the toilet seats………

Nah that couldn’t be the Mater, that’s a private hospital, sure don’t they use all that money to deliver a world class standard in health care and to not cut corners on hygiene and safety.

Stuart , was that in st teresa’s Ward? I reported the same thing 2 years ago , read the hiqa report which identified the same thing. here is a newpaper article on the same thing http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/dirty-hospital-ordered-to-clean-up-29668526.html

report after report find the same issues, and nothing seems to change, makes you wonder if there are even any sanctions , if it effected the hospitals budget allocation , we would have the cleanest hospitals in the world.

I don’t think there is any hospital in this country that has proper cleaning contractors. It’s get everything done as fast as you can for as cheap as you can. Remember years ago if you were visiting someone in hospital, hours later people could tell you were in a hospital due to the smell of disinfectant off your clothes. Changed times.

I think what happened there was that someone did a poo and then discovered there was no toilet paper. In annoyance and frustration, they decided to wipe their bottom on the toilet roll dispenser – both for symbolic and practical reasons.

So, you ever notice the doctor put on hand sanitizer then gloves before inspecting your ailments?

    Yeah.

That’s to make sure they keep the poop out of your eyes.

Pink eye outbreaks in D7 are pretty low.

    Move along. Move along.

I think germs get transferred in more ways than on a surgeons hands. Are you suggesting the state of this facility is acceptable?
