That was a lovely song Janet.
I felt invigorated.
I was singing along with it until about the 3min 40sec mark where she said something about ”I got my teeth’‘
You’re an abject disgrace. It’s shameful that nadssheet allow you to hijack every single thread while at the same time enable you to abuse and bully decent commenters like Bertie and Kieran out of here. It’s nothing to celebrate
Harry Molloy

You reckon Bookworm is Bertie, Frillz?
No chance. Hasn’t the wit or the sharpness, for starters. And there was never any malice in Bertie’s comments. And he wouldn’t have been ar$ed trolling.
The Chief Constable of Scotland has stepped aside after a complaint of bullying by a Chief Supt. He expects to return after an investigation but took leave ..

Excuse me… It’s my Birthday….
I was here before you.
But fair dues…
Nobody else ever crack3d it in about 4yrs or more.
Or dared to try.
I was drunk when I chose that name. OriginallyI meant it to mean Iwas was ‘Bad At Me Mark E Smith’ impressions. I was the only one who ever got that joke, but by the time I realised it it was beyond a joke.
I absorbed it.
I still wish I was Mark E Smith though.
(If you dont know who he is…STOP.)

No, hang on…
I DON’T WANT TO BE HIM.
That would be ridiculous. He’s easily led. I don’t do that. Shut up.

I was on the cusp of commenting on “The Coping Class”, it’s a new spin on UK’s, “Working Poor”?
Shayna
WWN posted, earlier this week, http://waterfordwhispersnews.com/2017/09/06/brexit-could-derail-irish-economy-take-your-sister-out-to-dinner-never-call-her-back/
It’s a copycat of what London does, Dublin does. (Coping Class/Working Poor). It would be great if we had a Taoiseach who wasn’t so worried that his ministerial jet was supplied with Tayto cheese n onion and salt and vinegar crisps (SINDO – 3 weeks ago).
Being an openly gay politician doesn’t mean one walks on water. Talking of water….?
Ghost estates, homeless types dying on streets, Na GardaĆ, Google, banks, etc..
Shayna
Sorry, I did mean to say, “Happy Birthday” to “upside-down name guy*! Happy 56/7th – I’m but a tad behind – yikes -50.
I used to think I was an aul lad on here, now 46…. :)
We’re all quite sprightly ! Yay!
badatmemes
Seriously though, my Birthday present to myself was supposed to happen tomorrow.
I wanted to make other people happy.
I wanted to help shine a light on the darkness that is Direct Provision.
Things happen.
Gimme two minutes… I’m going to post a youtube video thing.
I have to find it first.
“New offer to the homeless: a house in rural Ireland.” The Indo headline is catchy. I recall that the good citizens in a Leitrim village advertised cheaper living in their village on Facebook – and they got new enrollments for their endangered local school. There must be several more communities awaiting an injection of fresh blood from the claustrophobic, overcrowded outside. There are a few offshore islands that could do with some incomers too.
gerry
Hope that’s sarcasm but I suspect it isn’t. Many people who are currently homeless have jobs. They also have families. Moving them into rural areas that are depopulated due to lack of employment opportunities is not a good idea.
Sheik Yahbouti
Amen to that, Gerry.
Sheik Yahbouti
“claustrophobic and overcrowded”? Steady on. This country could easily sustain three times our population, and still have plenty of farms, forests and green spaces.
Dublin will have to start building up, and responsibly.
I wouldn’t hold my breath on that
Frilly Keane
Plenty room in the inn
But it’s wholly unfair to mention Rural Relocation to families in despair without completing the roll out of the fibre network
Sheik Yahbouti
Frilly, I’m with you – I really am, but broadband isn’t the complete answer. What is the key to the success of Germany, Italy et al? Manufacture on their own soil. I’ve looked at the Irish version of Dragon’s Den. The first thing many of our Irish ‘ontroppanooors’ do is get on the plane to China, tout suite. THAT’S the difference. Our artisan food products, however arty and farty, are leading the way. Why don’t people see that?
Brother Barnabas
Too true, Sheik. Whoring ourselves with no shame to the Apple, Google, Facebook… cynical, self-serving entities, while neglecting indigenous startups that could make a genuine contribution – socially and culturally as well as economically – if given a chance.
That’ll never be Leo et als way though.
Frilly Keane
C’mere
Show me an Artisan set up that doesn’t have or want a website, or Facebuke pg etc
Cop on
Brother Barnabas
Totally different point, frillz.
Every business has a Facebook presence and uses Google etc, of course.
I’m not talking about that.
I’m talking about a supposedly sovereign state arranging and structuring it’s entire corporate tax system to pander to a footloose, tax-dodgers who locate and conduct themselves without any sense of fairness or loyalty. They contribute way less to the economy than people imagine. The jobs they create here are primarily low-paid positions – glorified call centres. The positions of real authority and creativity – and real remuneration – are in London and San Francisco. Those companies are welcome to set up here – jobs are jobs after all – but they shouldn’t be the main focus of government efforts; that should be indigenous, entrepreneurial firms with real capacity of growth and wealth creation. They’re the ones that will contribute properly to Irish society.
Sheik Yahbouti
Excellent summation, Bro.
mildred st. meadowlark
+1
Brother B nailed it.
Sheik Yahbouti
Frilly. you misunderstand me. Of course these people use any and every method to promote their product – why wouldn’t they? My point is that we need manufacturing HERE. Even our potential sea weed harvest has been sold to the Canadians for short term gain. Do you not see that there’s potential here, however small, which isn’t reliant on the new Gods? Our sea food farmers have just got on with it, sort of under the radar. All I’m advocating for is some native industry – we had some once – what’s so evil about wanting to restore some of it.?
Sheik Yahbouti
Thanks, Bro. I think you understand.
Frilly Keane
Course I do Shake
My original point remains
It’s unfair to proffer rural relocation as a reasonable offer to desperate families while these locations don’t even have an ATM
Sheik Yahbouti
Couldn’t agree more, Frilly. It’s basically cruelty heaped on top of misfortune. I’d derive some comfort if I thought these B** err naughty Political persons would “die roaring”, but they won’t. Stalin, Pol Pot and Micky Noonan all had (will have) a peaceful passing, with their families around them. Kissinger, Bush, Cheney et al are still alive. Karma does not exist – quelle bummer.
Frilly Keane
You will not get families to move from a Dublin Hotel to Kiltyclogher unless they have access
Either for work use or further staying in touch with family etc

Until we introduce a functioning system where there is a mechanism for citizens to initiate constitutional change, nothing will change. It’s a bit like mobile phone advertising. Bertie is a legend of calmness and good wit :)
I said something very similar about bertie last Thursday night in the BOTV chat-pit Brother.
Then I remembered the two times he posted my real name on BS and I had to ask for his comments to be deleted.
Still miss him though.
If I had to support some F.C. I would choose him before the others.
you know, just like Clamps and Nigel etc, I’d say if the two of you bumped into one another in a pub, you’d get on like a house on fire
Where’d he get your name from memsy?
You posted it yourself you thick.
Mines a pint bottle of Cidona ;) …and whatever Nigel is havin’ !
MINE IS A PINT OF RIGHTEOUS RAGE FOR THE PLIGHT OF THE DOWNTRODDEN and a lucozade.

Splendid. I reckon Tony Groves would be a bit of a divil too.
and Bertie not even gone a wet week…
Stop that.
I actually have an odd feeling that Tony and Nigel would make a marvellous double act.
LOL :)
