…the hashtag in #VinB was probably the most relevant hashtag in broadcasting…but then that’s a media thing you wouldn’t understand…

Are they? Do you mean “ellipsis”?

Because that’s another thing altogether, see definition below.
Noun. “The omission from speech or writing of a word or words that are superfluous or able to be understood from contextual clues.”

          1. bisted

…of course you are right Col…but then, you understood what I meant. We haven’t had an active pedant on here for a long time…wellcome…

          2. Col

Yeah, anyone who corrects you is a pedant. I know what you meant, but your point has been lost now. You could just learn to type properly and you’d be able to communicate more effectively.

“Depending on their context and placement in a sentence, ellipses can indicate an unfinished thought, a leading statement, a slight pause, an echoing voice, or a nervous or awkward silence. Aposiopesis is the use of an ellipsis to trail off into silence”

Surely using an exclamation mark at the end of your sentence negates the ellipses (or asposiopesis) at the beginning…

    I haven’t seen it so can’t comment as such…..but….

They were saying to promote it yesterday that “It won’t just be 4 talking heads at a desk…”

My gut told me “this will 100% be just 4 or so talking heads at a desk.”

    Was I right or wrong?

It was a good start. The faux bants at the beginning was probably the most cringe thing ever, but it settled nicely and improved from there. Good vehicle for TV3 to promote its own talent too.

    There’s only 1 VinB.
These lightweights need to get some lessons from the master. Don’t let anyone away with talking poopy.

I missed the first bit but I thought the discussion was a good. Al Porter basically said FG /FF are uncaring monsters for the way they have let the homelessness and health care crises fester. No one disagreed. An amusing moment.

Lousy stale format! Not even a shadow of Tonight with Vincent Browne! This is a show of the Irish establishment and does not tell truth to power like Vincent. They seem to be imitating talking heads of American TV full of shit and ass kissing to those in power. Worst of all is Ivan’s worship of Emperor TRUMP! Then 11 minutes before guests appear… I was almost driven away before the guests and then who were the guests? Establishment hangers on and wanna become powerful types… Where were the independents? Where were the contra voices? I’ll not watch again till Broadsheet has a story about how it has suddenly changed to become more like Vincent’s Great shows! I miss Vincent Browne!

    I didn’t watch it

I could imagine it was a bag of poo though
not a fan of either presenter…so can’t see myself being drawn to it

If Matt was a priest he’d be called fr. trendy.
hops on every PC bandwagon and seems to have zero opinion of his own
Shame cos he does have ability in there somewhere.

I have issues with Ivans bankruptcy that I am unable to fully articulate but just that it doesn’t sit right with me.
Plus he was a dose anyway from when I listened to his breakfast show

    1. GiggidyGoo

I didn’t tune in to listen to Yates going heh heh heh heh heh. And rubbing it in that, after bankruptcy, he can fill us in on his visits to the racetracks. And that he’s a minime Hook.

Head melting shows with shouting and questions. And not a single answer or positive outcome. Watching fair city would do more for your mental health and general knowledge.

Brain damage shows. Nothin of value. Prime time investigates might be the only exception but they can be smug about their righteousness when they stumble upon an important story. And then actually change things in the real world. The rest is hot air and unanswered questions.

    Like yer ma.

    1. Frilly Keane

      Yet
      Imo anyway
Given the budget and resources at Prime Times’ disposal, breaking stories, undercover reports and exclusives, are pretty thin in their archive

  7. TheRealJane

I didn’t see it because I didn’t know it was on, but I’m fascinated by the fresh new concept of getting a couple of middle aged lads to do massive bants and then some serious chat about important, and therefore manly, things. How did they come up with it?

Will it take off at all?

  8. KM

Rubbish, two courtier ‘journalists’ agreeing with each other. A travesty that we find ourselves with out a left wing talk show. Both Cooper and Yates are on the radio for 2 /12 – 3 hours a day.
