Still love that McDonalds coffee advert when it turns up on the telly the odd time…classic ad
Airports are expensive shockers. Its almost as if they know you can’t go anywhere
Well, except for your destination.
unless it’s with Ryanair…
snarf!
Touché.
To be expected in an airport but many are taking the mick with the 9% VAT rate in the hospitality sector.
How can €12 for a cocktail be pretty much standard now – Even in fairly regular pubs. I attempted to book a night away in Ireland a few weeks back, any hotel room that doesn’t look like a ‘crying chair’ bs post costs around €250 pn
Don’t blame the hotels – they have to pay staff sometimes as much as the minimum wage.
But don’t worry, they’re working on automating bed making, so that’s sure to bring down prices.
Ireland is a greedy kip.
The message to emigrating Irish is Happy Takeoff and don’t come back soon.
That’s not expensive for a coffee in general anyway. So taking into account its the airport its really not bad
€3.70 in Brussels airport. Also charged €6.40 for a pint. Airports are expensive.
€4:50 for a 500ml bottle of coke in Munich airport last week. And, no, prices were not listed.
First time in an airport?
Vote with your feet, walk to Malaga instead.
I wouldn’t mind flying out to Málaga right now. It’s a lovely city and the weather’s super at the moment.
SIGH.
It’s a horrible kip of an airport, though. I needed to do a wee there once but couldn’t find a toilet that didn’t having me retching from around 10 metres away. Had to wait until I got on the plane. But yeah – nice city. All the Costa del Sol heads bypass it, which is fortunate.
I like stories like these, reminds me of the me good old days as a drug mule…
alot of people post a photo of their pint and passport at the airport (not that i’m encouraging that either)
Broadsheeters (Broadmoaners?) seem to think its the custom to post a photo of their drink and receipt at the airport in a bid to warn us all of this magical place that 28mln passengers passed through last year
Just bring a kettle and some instant coffee.
Or pop into Starbucks and buy their instant coffee which is €3.50 for 10 sachets or somesuch exorbitant price and work yourself into a tizzy about that.
That’s not actually bad value. I travel all over Europe and Dublin airport is actually one of the more reasonably priced ones for food & drink. The price of a pint is cheaper than a lot of pubs in the city centre. Sandwhich/snack/drink deal for €3.50 in Boots when a single 500ml bottle of water in Helsinki airport costs €3.50.
Go to Butlers. Coffee same price as town and you get a chocolate.
