It must be lonely being a British PM at the moment. The whole, “A woman Prime Minister” , it’s been done before – the ‘Wanted’ ‘ posters in bars in Donegal are a testimony to how highly we think of the office.
She campaigned to remain in Europe, since her capitulation, she is now Brexit and the referendum result.( 90%ish Scotland, North of Ireland ,80%ish to remain), means nothing – the English have the majority (veto) Teresa May might join her pre-descendant on ‘Wanted’ posters in bars in Donegal,

Every press article, radio and TV report always puts ‘from Firhouse’ into the early part of the article about Halawa. How about the early part mentioning instead, Halawa ‘who appears on videos addressing protest rally in Egypt, and whose Father never visited him in Jail’?

    1. bisted

…you’ve just said it all yourself…Ibrahim was jailed with hundreds of others for participating in a peaceful protest against a military junta which had depossed a democratically elected government…he also happened to be an Irish citizen…from Firhouse. Why would his father visit Egypt when he was an active supporter of the depossed government…the puppeteers wouldn’t permit that…

      1. GiggidyGoo

No, Bisted, I didn’t ‘say it myself’. Do you see a mention of ‘peaceful’ in my post. So why aren’t the reports reporting his addressing the crowds in the first lines?
How active was the father, when you say he is ‘an active supporter’? Active to a point where he allows his son into the puppeteers arms?

I do my best. It’s hard to completely comprehend the mindset of a complete silly who thinks that the correct response to the release of a fellow Irish citizen after 4 years incarceration is to pry into their personal family affairs. Gobspoo.

          2. Topsy

It’s unfortunate the the Irish Government was able to persuade the Egyptian government to release this Muslim brotherhood supporter and so-called “Irishman” A least he got four long years to reflect on his idiocy, but of course his ideology won’t change. We’ll be hearing about this Egyptian again in the future.

          3. Nigel

Applauding someone getting four years for a crime they didn’t commit. Got a lover of freedom and justice here.

        1. bisted

…I admit you didn’t mention peaceful…I did and so did the judge in the Egyption court which decided he had no case to answer…same as the judge in the sham trial of the Jobstown protesters…

          1. Pat Kenny's wife

            Don’t waste your time bisted
Some people are intent on seeing the negative in everything irrespective of the facts which are obvious

          2. GiggidyGoo

The Egyptian judge didn’t say the protest was peaceful. You conveniently dodged my questions about the father being an ‘active supporter’. So how active was he? Was it cowardly active to a point that he wouldn’t go himself but allowed his son to?

Aw Giddy-Goo-Gah, did you not see the RTÉ ‘News’ Now strapline that said his family were ‘AMAZED’
that he was free again? They repeated it during the EU propaganda machine they call Euronews last night.

I think you could get some milage out of that if you tried a bit harder.

BTW, my own Father never visited ME in prison.
Then again, I was never in prison, on trumped up charges or anything else.

      1. bad@memes

…but if I was in prison he would’ve visited me, even if he had to take two buses.

If you any qualm with Ibrahim it should be that he was foolish to expect the same rights he would be afforded in a proper democracy. I reckon he knows that already, so shut your mouth.

The only thing worse than a racist is a closet racist.
        You make me angry.

        1. bad@memes

Is it okay if I ask you a totally unrelated question PiggidyPoo?

          – Are YOU in moderation? Serious question.

        2. GiggidyGoo

Your posts are slightly more coherent than usual. Then again it’s not late Saturday night.
But a ‘closet racist’? Which race would you be referring to?

A protest rally against a corrupt, military regime. Funny all the people taking the side of one of the worst regimes in the region simply because they are secular.

      1. GiggidyGoo

So what was an ‘Irishman’ doing out there, in a foreign country, addressing a massive protest rally about a foreign regime then? Did he claim he was an Egyptian, living in Ireland?
And no one is taking that regimes side – Well, I’m not anyway. Funny that the more questions are asked, the more ‘look over there’ comments are written, or the more attacks are made on the writers here.
I’m actually interested in what type of persons and beliefs we are harbouring and facilitating in Ireland.
Without answers forthcoming and soft interviews, soft news articles, I believe we are being headed off at the pass.

        1. Daisy Chainsaw

Same as Irish people who fought for the Allies in the World Wars and who went to Spain to fight against Franco.

  3. Catherinecostelloe

Theresa Mai could be sadly reflecting she took the wrong job at 150,000 a year.
Big Phil annual salary is 249,900
    + 37,498 – resident salary
    +41,665 – installation salary
    +7,292. – monthly allowance.
EU are big bullies ,throwing money around like confetti.

  4. Pat Kenny's wife

I still insist it’s quite a novel situation here when memes comes across like the most reasonable

    1. GiggidyGoo

You insist? Sure that’s great. Is that a new word you learnt in Pre-school? Like Twinkle Pootle or Gobspoo?

      1. Pat Kenny's wife

Why don’t you try acting like a human being? Then we can speak about who the adults are here
