Teething Problems

at

The Luas on O’Connell Street, Dublin

This morning was the first Monday of the new Luas cross city service.

So how did that go?

Well.

Conor Pope, in The Irish Times, reports:

A traffic signalling failure in Dublin caused traffic chaos across the city on Monday morning, the first weekday of the new Luas cross city service.

Dublin City Council, the Luas and the Garda traffic division are all working to deal with the signalling failure which has seen the new tram line get off to a very rocky start on its first day of ferrying serious volumes of commuter traffic.

Oh.

Yikes.

‘What do I like? Politics, sports, HR, and humor. I have opinions.’ I read that as options, but those aren’t options.

What’s most interesting is how Northsiders to have pretend to themselves that working class southside areas; Rialto, Fatima, Inchicore, Bluebell and Drimnagh don’t exist in order for their jaded Northside/poor Southside/rich narrative to work.

What has that got to do with anything mentioned in the post? I didn;t read one northside/southside comment in it.

I got it this morning at around 9:20 from Parnell Street to Central Park without issue. It seems to be northbound trams that were more affected. Teething problems hopefully.

These posts are indicative of how self- absorbed we’ve all become.
“Carnage” “chaos “- they sound like the Daily Express. I mean wowza a while 30 minutes extra!?!!! At Christmas?!? Truly shocking. Fire everyone involved. Burn down their houses. Torch their villages.

    Idiots

How boring would you have to be to take to bloody twitter to moan about your journey to work taking that bit longer than expected. What next. I had to wait an extrat 15 mins at the dentist . Get a life or at least some level of self-awareness. No need to tell the world you have nothing else going on in your life. Idiots.

I’m reminded of a comment I made last week, “Tá Luas mhaith, leath an toibre, it’s more apt today in its original idiomatic form, “Tá tús mhaith, leath an toibre (A good start, is half the work). I doubt, however, someone who walks backwards to work, and thinks they’ll get there before using the Luas, has any future in their current employ. However, this is good news for the South Dublin residents who feared a rise in crime, with the extension of the service. It appears the North Siders favour walking backwards than using the Luas.

Nice one, Nigel! Isn’t the Irish language great? Perhaps, the odd grant or two, oh, the crocodile thing?

Its almost like buidling additional public transport on the ground level has added to the cities traffic complications, who would’ve thought??

      Na man that’s an illusion
How could putting something in the same place as another thing cause issues?

  6. Bruncvik

Brrombridge to Ranelagh in 23 minutes on Luas. It would take two buses and an hour and 10 minutes otherwise. This must have been before the gridlock, though; we passed the city centre before 8.

Yeah… what was the result of the inquiry into the Luas V Dublin Bus crash on O’Connell st a few years ago?
