Staying In Tomorrow?

at

The Late Late Show will celebrate 30 years of Aslan’s iconic album Feel No Shame this Friday.

Lead singer Christy Dignam and guitarist Billy McGuinness will be on the couch to chat about how Aslan made their big breakthrough…

Three-time major winner Padraig Harrington will be in studio to chat about why he is enjoying golf more than ever…

As Pieta House founder Joan Freeman prepares to focus on a similar project helping Irish diaspora in the US, she is joined in studio by her sister, former Where in the World? presenter Theresa Lowe

The Late Late Show will be remembering the hundreds of people still missing in Ireland with Prime Time’s Barry Cummins and hearing from the family members of Deirdre Jacob, Fiona Sinnott and Cathal O’Brien, who have not given up the search for their loved ones.

Plus Mary Coughlan performs.

The Late Late Show is on tomorrow night, on RTÉ One, at 9.35pm

Lordy, Irish music truly is dead. Or at RTE at least.
Still have fond memories of them on pre- Fatima Mansions at Féile and everyone chanting along to their ONLY song This Is “…Everybody HATES you…” Christy didn’t seem amused.

Is there any evidence that this service is required in New York, looks like they maxed out fundraising in Irl-so expand into NY/DC/Boston which have plenty services for people requiring mental health.

“The Irish government approved a grant of €70,000 to fund the New York expansion of Pieta House. “It’s okay to say that you can’t cope, to say that you need help,” Irish Consul General Barbara Jones told guests at Friday’s gathering.“

If you read the article that you linked to, you would have read that the services are being provided for Irish people living in New York.

I imagine there are a few reasons why Irish illegal immigrants might be unwilling to access hospitals and health services in the States.

Is there any evidence off higher suicide rates among irish emigrants ?
Hospitals don’t check immigration status-neither do cops in NY-it’s a “sanctuary” city.

The rest of Aslan look like a load of ropey bouncers & Christy looks like the bloke they’re not letting in.

That’s not Aslan lads, that’s the punk single he had out a while back.
Christy is a gentleman and a rare talent who made some bad life choices.

Aslan’s album is very appropriate-looks like the Senator leveraged her position at Pieta house to get a US Visa and set up her next gig !

Why would a suicide charity based in NY incur thousands off dollars in ‘Visa’ expenses ?

So now there’s two Irish sate funded suicide charities in New York-with 50% of revenue going on expenses, when theres ZERO evidence of any elevated suicide levels amongst them-why ?

“Pieta House, the suicide and self-harm charity, announced today (31 October 2017) that its founder and former CEO, Senator Joan Freeman, will leave the organisation as of December 31, 2017. Senator Freeman will be focusing her efforts on growing the suicide and self-harm service, Solace House, which she founded in 2014 to serve the Irish Diaspora and others in New York.”

its impossible to track down any current information on Pieta House Inc/Solas House, which is very unusual-they are receiving significant amounts off irish state funding and should be readily available online. It appears that 2015 is last year that Pieta filed returns with the IRS-with nothing from Solas ?

The whole NY/USA expansion is very odd, murky hard find accounts or no accounts, unusal and extremely high expenses relative to revenue, appears Pieta USA closed down without filling accounts, with key personal transferring to the founders new entity after receiving lots irish state funds ?
