The Irish captain turning up at a very sordid rape trial, a trial which looks very bad for the defendents looks very bad.

“very sordid rape trial” – why? aren’t they all?

no one has been proven guilty of anything so he may be a captain but probably just supporting his friends first

Didn’t a lot of friends come out in support of a newspaper columnist a while back? Some even writing glowing reports about him? And him convicted then.
The ‘best’ thing to do would have been to stay away, and offer his support privately if he wished. What has been done now is to have people question whether this alleged behaviour is part and parcel of the sport.

We dealt with this yesterday. Presumptive innocence is purely a matter for the courts. For everyone else, common sense applies. He’s the captain of the Irish Rugby team. A position that holds huge responsibility on and off the pitch. He should have stayed away. If he did not realise his attendance would be viewed as controversial, he was either poorly advised or lacks common sense. Either way, I’m fairly sure he’s gotten roasted for this by the IRFU.

            Probably.

Your man who’s charged with withholding evidence, the lad who comforted her and texted her to keep the chin up, might be under more pressure than just the 2 accused with raping her, and the other one looking to get in on the action.

If they get off with this it’ll send a clear message to women not to bother reporting a rape, and to potential rapists that they’ll get away with it.

You misunderstand me, or, I probably being oblique. They’re gonna be fairly pissed that he made the front page of the Irish Times… Negative publicity before the big match and all. It’s all big money these day, whatever about the fart lighting behind closed doors.

But surely for this to be true you’d have to completely ignore the fact that Comey absolutely torpedoed Clinton just a week before the election. Like how could that possibly fit in with a shadowy cabal whose sole purpose is to bump Trump and guarantee a Clinton presidency?

At least Coveney isn’t a follower. The bulk of the party have to wait for Varadkars pronouncements before they can have a view. Catherine Noone’s interest is just to have her name mentioned as some sort of major contributer to the decision making of the electorate.
Coveney, like it or not, is the true leader of FG. Varadkar will find that out come next election. Personally i think Coveney is more statesman-like. Pity he’s another Bilderberger.

Coveney a true leader! As evident in his handling of the homelessness crisis. He showed great fight and determination there..

      1. Otis Blue

Coveney is an empty suit. Not a thing going on there at all.

His support amongst the FG grassroots was merely an ‘Anybody but Varadkar’ vote

      2. GiggidyGoo

I suppose I should have put in ‘in comparison to Varadkar’, as i am in agreement with you.

He’s pick an issue that he can safely disagree on, as a way of testing the waters for challenging Leo. If it doesn’t work he can put it down to a topic of ‘conscience’ as if such a thing exists in the shower than aspire to be head gombeen in this country.

Handwringing ballhooks. Coveney couldn’t lead the party out a front door with push written on it. He’s just another legacy politician who got Daddy’s seat and was an utter disaster in housing.

Why does it seem like the catholic church is less bothered when the anal sex happens with a child rather than with another consenting adult.?

“social media leading to body dysmorphic disorder in pre-teens”

Lemme tell ya, I had myself a vicious lil eating disorder as a teen and there was zero social media back then. Not to sh*t on McLuhan but social media is just the medium, NOT the message — young women (and men, too) having body dysmorphia has to do with how we as society measure self-worth. Before social media we had glossy magazines.

Because priests feel immediately sorry about buggering an alter boy right after they climax , then they say a few hail mary’s , they likely start the prayers when they are still in the youngfellas, then later some self flagellation, /confession to the bishop who has been there done that too in his wild priest days, so all is understood and forgiven. Then the priest controls his urges during the refractory period which could last a few days or even weeks depending of the age and fitness of the priest. younger priests can go all day so they get sent to Africa and the Philippines where police bribes are the norm. There, the bishop will only require a confession for every..say.. 100 bummings. Its saves time and money for travel expenses etc. The church needs that money to pay off the western kids when they start speaking out. Gay adults who love each other and have consensual sex have no guilt at ALL and that is a catholic no-no.
