A fetus is not a child. Never was. Never will be. And all those cretins of the anti-choice movement should be focusing in on child poverty in Ireland which is horrendous. Zero chance of them helping in eradicating child poverty though. They’d allow a child to die of hunger if it meant them lifting a hand to do anything.

“A fetus is not a child… Never will be”

Youre all mixed up and confused about this, arent you.

      1. Tim

No. I know what a child is. A child is ex-vagina. A fetus is not. Science ain’t that hard. Unless, of course, you’re the type that believes in a virgin birth.

      2. Pluto

A Fetus is not a child Killian. It is a clump of cells. Where are these people when the government cuts disability benefit and state aid to those who ARE disabled TODAY and NOW?

        1. Killian G

“A fetus is not a child… Never will be”

A fetus WILL BE a child actually. That is how it works. A fetus becomes a child.

I’m not banging on with a “Life begins at conception” nonsense line. I am pro-choice and support abortion on demand to 12 weeks in all circumstances – and indefinite under medical recommendation,

I am just calling out the stupiditl of ” A fetus never will be a child”. Dumb nonsense does not aid anything.

          1. Nigel

I assume they mean that the biological classification of fetus and the biological classification of child will remain separate, or should.

          2. postmanpat

no. but arguing with a another pro-choser is. , its this type of left fighting itself that caused Thump to be elected. You want the same outcome? , stop bickering.

          3. ahjayzis

WILL BE a child, sure. If they’re lucky. And most crucially, the point you ignore, IF the woman consents that her womb be used to mature it.

I don’t believe in forcing women to use their bodies for anything they don’t want to do – do you?

Why don’t we prosecute women who don’t breastfeed?

          4. ahjayzis

“its this type of left fighting itself that caused Thump to be elected”

Economic inequality, racism, nativism, misogyny and poor candidate selection by democrats gave it to Trump, to be fair.

When a neo-liberal hawk loses to a racist plutocrat, it’s some stretch of reasoning to blame the invisible socialist in the room.

          5. SteveKBruce

Will be, future tense. I.e. an egg will be a chicken. Only thing is the chicken that laid the egg was raised on the wrong farm and that egg was on my plate last Friday. Ergo, I did not have chicken with my fry last week.

Where do prolife sickos get their abortion fetish porn printed up?

Will Maria/@Ireland be out with her bodycam today. not working for the Lie Institute, of course!

      1. Increasing_Displacement

Would they give out if I wanted to print huge posters of blaster apart children from Syria etc?
        Would they do that?
        Would the government let me?
        Hell no

        1. dav

@Daisy, I recall must worse arriving through the doorstep back in 1983. Steel yourself, there is nothing these revisionists won’t do

    1. Daisy Chainsaw

It’s far from “stepping it up” because that’s standard practice for antis. They’ve been flaunting their faked abortion fetish porn for years all over the country.

        1. Daisy Chainsaw

Why would a clinic or hospital allow a photographer to take pictures after an abortion procedure? Either it’s a faked picture, or it was a “back alley” illegal procedure where someone just happened to have a camera to hand to capture the moment.

And what kind of pervert takes those pictures anyway?

          1. newsjustin

Ehm. Are photos and videos not taken of medical and surgical procedures to aid teaching? That’s pretty standard, no? Abortion is just a medical procedure, no?

So do you think there’s like a Jim Henson/Steven Spielberg type making these fake aborted foetuses?

          2. Daisy Chainsaw

Why would a woman or girl give permission for her abortion to be photographed?

Do you think the injuries on the boy in the same picture are real, or are they faked too?

          3. newsjustin

Because she sees it as an educational tool?

That’s a fair point re the other picture. I think thats a model with make up.

It’s fairly straightforward (but not pleasant obviously) to do a Google image search for foetuses. That foetus image looks legit.

Can I ask Daisy, are you suggesting that a 15 week foetus simply doesn’t look like that (doesn’t have a face for example)? Even if you are certain it’s a fake, are you saying it’s an inaccurate fake? What does a real 15 week foetus look like, in your view?

          4. Daisy Chainsaw

A woman or girl having an abortion wouldn’t be all that interested in their termination being used as an “educational” tool. Antichoice propaganda has always misappropriated pictures. The skin in that picture isn’t translucent enough to be a 15 week gestation.

          5. newsjustin

So Daisy, you’re saying that no woman ever, in the recent history of medicine has ever agreed to allow photography of the procedure or outcome for educational or scientific purposes? That seems unlikely. Next you’ll be suggesting no woman has ever agreed to donate their aborted foetus to medical science…and medical science has never been known to photograph anything, ever.

I think you’re increasingly painting yourself into a corner insisting that these are fake foetuses. At least you seem to agree that a 15 week foetus looks like that and has a face – albeit his skin would be more translucent.

          6. JLK

They are usually images following miscarriage, not all are spontaneous and require clinical assistance.

        2. Daisy Chainsaw

          “So you’re saying?”

No… Duh. You’re saying. You see and hear what you want to see and hear, regardless of what is actually being said.

        1. Daisy Chainsaw

I’d say it’s done with makeup because no abused child would have a picture taken like that unless it’s for evidence. It would be a huge breech of trust/data/laws to release a picture of a beaten child. Unless it was a child beaten up for some kiddie porn fetishist…

          1. Anomanomanom

Nice bit of pretend stupidity there, unless you really thought I meant that picture. Then its just stupidity.

          2. Daisy Chainsaw

Then you need to be more specific. There’s three pictures shown on the banner. If one is faked, then it’s likely they all are.

  3. Nigel

Reminding the general public of how the people responsible for our current abortion regime were also responsible for so much child abuse doesn’t seem like a winning strategy.

    1. Boj

Why do some think this is to do with the church…. the majority of people these days can form their own opinions on this without any influence of church.

      1. dan

Not really, there’s no such thing as a valid secular anti-choice argument, if you’re anti-choice it’s because of religion, or ignorance.

  4. Catherine costelloe

The reason victims of bombings with decapitated heads , arms and legs and all its horrors are not made public is to protect the public. This is no different.

  5. The Ghost of Starina

Are all of these people vegans, yeah? Cos if they’re trying to put the horror into us by saying it has a face, they’d want to all be vegans.

        1. Andyourpointiswhatexactly?

I just googled “chicken foetuses” (as I was going to make an hilarious joke) and saw some photos. I nearly gawked.
THANKS, DAISY. It’s all your fault.

        2. Rob

So it’s just the eating of the meat/eggs they object to, rather than the animal being killed?

Though I suppose there are lots of reasons to be vegan, so it is not a good generalised analogy.

  6. gorugeen

I feel sorry for carrots. Nobody speaks for them. Ffs we even eat their babies(vegans included). Is a baby carrot a foetus or a baby?

  7. Anomanomanom

Regardless of which side you may be on. I think we can all agree the abortion rates would be dramatically cut if people just used protection. It really is that simple.

    1. cian

Although I’m sure some (other) people would argue that “abortion rates would be dramatically cut if people just stopped having sex that wasn’t specifically for procreation. It really is that simple.”

    2. Increasing_Displacement

      No to rubbers

Yes to anything else that doesn’t make it feel like your screwing a tiny shopping bag

  8. SB

I think it’d be much better if this type of thing wasn’t reported on. As someone else above said, you’re giving them oxygen. The can stand there all day if they like but if the online and print space ignores them, only a few dozen people will see this type of extreme activism.

    1. Boj

Nah, report everything! Otherwise you are leaving it with our wonderful media to determine what they feel like reporting on. I’d imagine many pro-lifers would agree with you on this btw. People don’t want to see this, unfortunately this is the subject of what we will be voting on, so subject matter like this will arise.

  9. Increasing_Displacement

See the way they didn’t choose 12 weeks.
Wonder why…less in their favour eh

    These people are insane sickos

  10. ahjayzis

I’m assuming the forced birth side would be A-okay with the pro-choicers posting a picture of that poor woman literally decomposing on life-support from a few years ago?

    1. Boj

      Forced birth side…ahjayziz
Can we not be grown-ups and stick to the Pro-Life and Pro-Choice titles?
How can this all be going down hill so fast! Does anybody respect anyone else’s opinion or do they just want to feel like they are correct, or on the ‘winning’ side?

      1. ahjayzis

        I’m pro-life, everyone outside ISIS is pro-life. I’m also pro-choice.

Anti-choicers believe in forcing a pregnant woman to carry a fetus to term at any cost to her health, life or circumstances – and at no cost to themselves – that she must have no say in her body. This is a statement of fact.

I respect your view, really I do. If you disagree with abortion, don’t get an abortion, it’s nothing to do with me.
I do NOT respect anyone campaigning to force their view on to others.

        1. newsjustin

“This is a statement of fact.”

It’s not. Babies are delivered early every day for multiple reasons. So saying pregnant women are forced to carry a foetus/baby to term is just not factual.

It’s also not true that anyone forces a pregnant woman to carry a baby “at any cost to her health, life or circumstances.” If a women’s life is under threat due to being pregnant, doctors can and do perform abortions. Happens regularly, if not every day.

I can see some of the points you’re making. But don’t over-egg the pudding and claim you are just being factual.

And the “don’t like abortion, don’t have one” argument is, of course, ridiculous.

          1. ahjayzis

            No it’s not.

Deliver a baby at 12 weeks? Fact is with the 8th if you’re not immediately in danger of death, you are forced to carry a pregnancy to term, your body is suddenly 49% yours, 49% the fetus and state has the casting vote. It’s obscene.

So scratch that life bit if you want – though obstretricians have warned it’s an incredibly hard definition to action – you demand a stranger you’ve never met carry a pregnancy she cannot afford, one that may harm her health, one conceived by her father or other rapist etc, etc.

It’s an extremist, incredibly intrusive opinion you have and I’m not sure why you think it’s ANY of your business to force fellow citizens to follow your moral code in this way.

It’s the same as used in the marriage equality fight – don’t get gay married. No one cares whether you agree or disagree with my marriage, it’s none of your fupping business. It’s a prurient obsession with other people’s bodiyl autonomy, personal agency, insinuating yourself between they, their families, their partners, their doctors.

          2. newsjustin

Yes dan. The human right to life is more fundamental and important to the very important right to not be pregnant and abort a pregnancy. The unborn child has a human right to life because it is clearly, obviously, verifiably human.

          3. Daisy Chainsaw

Why not just remove the human at 12weeks gestation and look after it’s right to life ex utero?

      2. realPolithicks

“Can we not be grown-ups and stick to the Pro-Life and Pro-Choice titles?”

It’s more accurate to say Pro-Choice and Anti-Choice.

  11. Janet, I ate my Avatar

So concerned about kids they will put huge graphic disturbing ( faked) pictures where innocent kids can see what you wouldn’t let them watch in a movie

      1. Andyourpointiswhatexactly?

Yeah. Fupp em when they’re born. WE’RE SAVING BABIES HERE!
*blesses self, gives mean beady eye to heathen onlookers*

        1. Boj

Did you know what you were seeing or was it explained to you. It is this explanation which I am asking about. It’s all in my original reply above.

          1. The Ghost of Starina

I did know what i was seeing, my mom explained it to me. God love her for not hiding me from sex ed. But then again she’s pro-choice as well so her explanation would have been tinged with her own anger/distaste at the signs. Don’t forget, in the 80s/90s family planning clinics were being bombed, too.
I don’t remember exactly what she said, but the gist of it was that they were trying to control women’s bodies. Then in my child logic I concluded that it was mean to bring kids into the world that would know they weren’t wanted from the start (eg put up for adoption at birth) – which is actually a point that I still think is valid.

          2. The Ghost of Starina

No, Andyourpointiswhatexactly. Don’t know how you extrapolated that except by willful trolling.

  12. Red

I wish they’d done the pair of pictures to scale. The foetus would be little more than the length of the kid’s nose.

  13. Nuala Mc Namara

Whatever your beliefs, these photos can be viewed by children of all ages passing by without any consideration of their mental welfare!
