Always punching down, never punching up, what about that quarter of a million that turned up in #PanamaPapers for #panamafrank?
What have @gardainfo done about that? https://t.co/eQYFYNA06N

Good times.

Anne – I take it all back: Martin McMahon is Broadsheet’s resident contrarian.
I would have thought that everyone would be on board with the Gardaí going after people living on the proceeds of crime, but apparently not…
They should probably look in-house before asking the public to make assumptions and most likely wasting their time.
It’s ridiculous.
No it isn’t
You and Martin McMahon are completely ridiculous
Chasing internal garda scum and scum living off drugs etc aren’t mutually exclusive
Consider the waste of time spent on investigating tip offs from people for what they assume is people living beyond their means?
New car? Sure the credit has been loosened up for some time when it comes to new cars.
New extension? Granny died and they got some cash from the over-priced house.
Fancy holiday? International travel has never been cheaper.
All could be explained by throwing a tenner to the credit union for the last ten years.
It’s ridiculous and would be far more wasteful than useful. Believe it or not, the vast majority of crims in this country are already known to the Guards.
define crime ?? as mentioned earlier Lowery et al
this is about organised crime and trying to stop it
pointless whataboutery here
Like Charlie Haughey?
Not especially, I’m more of a Pina Coladas and getting caught in the rain kinda guy….
The gardai have done nothing regarding the NAMA scandals. Frank Connolly’s book should be enough to convince any garda where the real theft is occurring. But the gardai will never go after the millionaires.
make a criminal complaint yourself then, the Guards are literally asking you above to report suspicions to them
The NAMA criminals aren’t low income. That’s the point. They stole and their theft was essentially legalized. White collar crime, which costs Ireland thousands of times more than low-level crime, is never punished.
Yeah the only thing holding them back from making that investigation is a surprising lack of public complaint.
+1
Namaland is a depressingly good read… laughable conflicts of interests, profiteering from those conflicts of interests at the expense of us saps, backed up by the force of the State…
How would the public know what income anyone has?
How about tracking down all the gouging landlords who have broken the law & not kept the rents within 4% max rise in rent pressure zones? They have their details..
So being good with money is a crime now?
Two words….Irish Banks
so the gardai don’t know who is involved in organised crime and they have to ask the public to report someone they know who is claiming the dole and driving a merc?
nonsense.
What if I was a secret millionaire.. but told no one. If I won the lotto for instance.
Are the Gardai gonna come knocking on my door if I’m not driving a banger?
Pretty sure we would all hear about it… you can hardly keep your mouth shut for five seconds.
It’s an article from D O’B’s independent – look! Squirrel
What was that story last week about an organised crime gang using Irish Hotels and banks to launder hundreds of millions, pretending to be international fund investors? Has this story not been fully broken yet or is it being kept on the QT? Might explain why a certain Hotel group paid over the odds for some of Dublin’s better known hotels when a better discount price was available less than 2 years previously? Hmmmm very odd.
Anyone remember the HSBC scandals that nobody went to jail for?
Does D O’B have any investors with less than stellar reputations or known ties to the Russian mob?
They have extensive dealings in Cyprus, Malta and Dublin too.
Careful now. We have seen what happens when you ask awkward questions in Malta.
Or as a journalist in Ireland. Gemma O’Doherty, Sam Smyth, Frank Connolly….
Innocent until proven wealthy.
Dont you mean the opposite?
you lot are never happy. seriously.
And you’re happy in your apathy Harry
So this makes you happy…..happy?
After the continued evidence arising of a corrupt and inept police force, this press release brings a smile?
Apathy Molloy
Nothing to do with CAB. All to do with DSP
Also, people with stripey jumpers and bags with the word “LOOT” on it. Eyemasks are to be reported at once!
