The Star Mangled Banner

at

A horribly misjudged jazz rendition of the American national anthem performed by Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas at the NBA All Star game on Sunday.

And here’s how Youtuber Everybody Deserves Music gallantly ‘rescued’ it.

It doesn’t matter what you’re singing and how bad you’re singing it – an American audience will go nuts if someone holds a high note, closes their eyes and dangles their fingers about

Lolololol some old queen. In the land of the greed and the home of the slaves. Is Ireland the 51st state ( of depression) already.

Well according to 2FM it is? American, high pitched and auto tuned to an inch of its life is the stable diet. And the same ten songs in rotation, but sure they have doing that since the 80’s.

Lazy doesn’t even begin to describe them.

How does 2fm having a playlist of songs that you object to make Ireland the 51st state of a completely seperate country?

Why do you even listen to 2fm? Have you heard of the Nova? or the internet?

Just go listen to it eh? For about an hour. Why? Because it is the state broadcaster which is paid for out of the license fee.

My point is that BBC radio 1 actively promote new British talent but 2FM do not seem to be under any obligation to do likewise.

Job 14 King James Version (KJV)

14 Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.

2 He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.

Given the fuss Americans make about the Flag and Standing for the Anthem, It’s absolutely bizarre how they DGAF how the anthem is sung. Every single rendition of it is a ‘cover version’. The above is a milder example of some of the interpretations the song gets.

+1 have a look at Jamie Foxx singing the anthem for the Mayweather v Pacquiao fight. Another attention seeker.

I totally agree, everyone puts their own “interpretation” on the thing and most of them sound like poopy.

In fairness, It’s nowhere near the easiest national anthem to sing given the range required for it and considering its performed at the drop of a hat , there’s bound ot be a lot of awful renditions flying around.

This video of Jack Black (who i cannot stand) popped up around the same time as the fergie one and is a good antidote. Although I hate him, he pretty much nailed it
