Meanwhile, At Trinity

at

This afternoon.

At Trinity College Dublin.

Students protesting over a flat fee of €450 for supplement exams block the entrance to the Book of Kells (top), occupy the college’s dining hall (third pic) and block the college’s Nassau Street entrance (above).

People Before Profit TD Richard Boyd Barrett addressed the crowds outside the Dining Hall.

More as we get it.

Well done children. Block one of the most popular tourist destinations in the city. Just so you can have your little moan. Congratulations….

yes they should just shut up and take like their parents did. Keep meek and let the banks get away with it…

        the banks?
Oh! Of course forgive me, everything should have an asterix with “what about the bankers/homeless?” Not forgetting your blushirts

The plurality of Emily’s and Fionn’s parents were probably administering the ol’ pan-generational, grease your cheeks, cry for Mother Ireland shafterino. This is Trinity, darling.

It’s alright, lads, they have the Trotskyite Trustafarian in their corner: you know, that one ‘goy’ whose Stop The War campaign did exactly what it promised.

652 Tesco cans. Now you’re speaking my language.
I jest. I’m all about Pecorino vino at the moment. I wouldn’t touch that bilge.

Those six figure university salaries don’t pay themselves.
God forbid they would have to cut back on some of the course offerings.

I presume this is a parody.

All it’s missing is Neil from The Young Ones. Mind you Boyd-Barrett is a good sub.

I would rather that 3rd-level education was funded by things like property taxes and inheritance taxes – you know, where the burden falls more heavily on wealthy people. But then RBB opposed measures to raise either of these taxes, so they have to fund education through other means…

Education should be free, fees have been crawling upwards for years now and standards and college equipment have not improved, in fact a lot of colleges have deteriorated and are seriously underfunded with regards to computers and software. In the 21st Century this is the opposite of progress

Free fees for 3rd level largely benefit the middle classes. People who are already privileged. Does that seem fair to you?

All the funnier, as the Angry Left in my experience is primarily composed of rich kids slummin’ it.

Once attended a function at the Trinity Provost’s House at 1 Graftion Street. Wondered was this a freebie pad or was benefit in kind involved.

  8. bisted

…could Ivana Bacik sign and endorse that petition on behalf of her party and as a Trinity insider…that’s bound to help…

  9. some old queen

And where is the protest for those who cannot afford to go to any college let alone Trinity?
