“Doubts grow” over Nurse Noel? He was a porter with a fire safety certificate!

“The broadband scandal highlights once again the dire need for a strong, authentic independent political voice for rural Ireland. The treacherous policy of privatising Telecom has resulted in the fact that Eir is now owned by a French billionaire and that the Government is left with just one bidder to provide broadband for over half a million houses in the rural areas. “

Worthy of a read I would say – the considered opinion of Craig Murray, former British ambassador to Uzbekistan, regarding the latest Russian nerve agent accusations. He previously sacrificed his governmental career while stationed in Uzbekistan in order to speak out against Britain’s morally indefensible support for the torturous regime ruling there. In my opinion, his principled track history and former insider position lend some weight to the credibility of his opinion.

      Very interesting read.

“The naive view of the world as “goodies” and “baddies”, with our own ruling class as the good guys, is for the birds.”

      Says it all really.

It’s hard to believe that only the russians have the recipe for these particular nerve agents mind.

Although the Russians ma have to launder their money elsewhere from here on.

Interesting. Look at the comments too – link to another good piece written by someone who lives in Salisbury. It’s anybody’s guess what really went on but the argument that the Russians developed the nerve agent so it must be them is as simplistic as it gets. Btw, why did the Russians want the Brits to send them a sample of the Novichok?

Varadkar out ‘warning’ May. Anyone? Wouldn’t you think the SCU boyos could come up with something new?
And Keaveney selling his soul. Who’d have thunk it eh?

Examiner: Possible passport checks on trains after Brexit.

Only from Cork could such clueless nonsense come. Irish Rail would be grossly negligent if they did not at least consider all the ‘what-if’ scenarios.

But, is does indirectly ask the question as to why the international obligation to maintain the free movement of people on the island of Ireland is not to be mentioned, by any side. No matter about trade, the people border is already a done deal, in the sea.

there is two years more headlines left. Upcoming ones include

      – passport checks at sea ports
      – passport checks at airports
      – passport checks on Channel Tunnel
      – customs paperwork checks all over the place
      – Varadkar warns May about Corbyn
      – Varadkar podium hire and crowd control bill to exceed €250,000. Usual suspect gets paid.
      etc.
      etc.

I heard him talking in a radio interview recently, didn’t sound like he was unwell. Rip.

      1. The Old Boy

All of his interviews have been meticulously scripted and pre-prepared for years. He was only able to programme the voice box at about one word per minute, which makes the amount of media work he did all the more remarkable.

Cian, I think it safe to say you’re not much of a fan of religion – whether old time or new school – but I think we’re going to hell for this.

Possibly. But then I realised that anyone could record their own eulogy and have it played at their funeral.

… *wanders off to look for a tape recorder*
