I’d like someone to explain to me what gives ANY political party, either here or in the UK, the right to mine personal data for the purposes of identifying potential voters.(See Independent). Firstly, political parties may have only a few thousand members yet they seek to pry into the private affairs of entire populations – what arrogance ; secondly, who is to say that such profiling will not be used to disadvantage ‘non supporters’? Thirdly, I was under the illusion that we are entitled to a secret ballot, or is even that figleaf of this faux democracy now to be removed?
@Sheikh: it’s an excellent question. Maybe people need to avail of that ‘right to be forgotten’ in the new data protection régime or not sign up to social media in the first place.

Sorry (not sorry) to be a piglet but Elle McPherson is genetically blessed.

No right what so ever but Facebook
I do not buy Zuckerman excuse
They sold that data like they have been for years and someone made a big deal about it
Facebook need to be made an example of
A massive fine of 200 billion dollars which will take a chunk of the off shore tax fortune they have
The greed of these individuals
Everyone should shut down their Facebook pages for about a month then watch the shares plunge
I only found out today that they had an album out in 2016…. and Dave Lombardo’s on drums.. what the…. played the whole thing on YouTube. Daycent like :) Still love the old stuff tho
dylad.
I love the simplicity of those Daily Mail campaigns.

i was on a junket with Valerie Cox in 2005 and she kept on telling me how happy she was to be freelance…she was on a contract with rte.

Could she have been freelancing as well? Sean O’Rourke interviewed her yesterday, which was a little surreal. RTE interviewing her about having wronged her. I was surprised to hear she’s 65, she has a young-sounding voice. It does seem unfair that she was willing and happy to be at her desk at 5am to do ‘It Says in the Papers’ and they said, No thanks, Deirdre Purcell will do nicely instead. Still, €50k is a nice award. Especially since they offered her €5k to go away. Her solicitor deserved a plug but didn’t get one.

I’m logged into my google account on my phone, as you do.. how come when I start looking up stuff on google, I get sponsored adds of a similar theme on Farcebook? It’s turning into a filtered bubble. I don’t want them tailoring ads to what they think I might like.
For instance, buying a house, I keep keeping these sponsored ads from estate agents, blogs from them spouting sh*te about poor landlords being taxed too much. They’re filtering doesn’t work..they don’t know what I want to read or buy.
This is all done with the blessing of facebook..Of course they knew what was going on here too. Their service isn’t free.

Another reason to abandon it.

You too Milly, have a lovely Friday !
…I think my original post has been moved to moderation now… for some reason :)
It was only after the fact that I realised why. That was very tongue in cheek of you clampers.
It was…? …you lost me Milly, I’d imagine it was due to the band name…
Anyhoo.. Joni’s playing now :)
Good man Clampers! I had that song bouncing round my head all day yesterday.
Just cause you don’t like it don’t mean it ain’t no good!
