Billionaire John Magnier (top) and his Amedeo Modigliani nude (above) valued at $150m
John Magnier, who’s known to be shrewd
Once purchased a well painted nude
Now it’s back up on sale
And he’ll have a whale
Of a time with the cash he’s accrued

It’s quite a bum she has. I’m rather envious.
I like Modigliani but I don’t really like this one much. I’d only pay $120m for it.
You’re probably right.
I’m not overly familiar, and if I’m honest I’ve never seen this one before. I’ve been reading up on Mucha lately. There’s a trip to Praha in the works and I’ve been doing my homework.
Gosh, his stuff is lovely. I hadn’t heard of him before.
his granddaughter is a jewelry maker and lives in portobello
fun fact
You could pop in to buy some jewelry while you’re over there, Mildred:

I’m too mannerly to point out that BB has got his facts arseways.
ahem
which facts, young(ish) lady?!
Thanks andy, you darling. I might too. I like Portobello. I don’t get out that way all too often. This is a good excuse.
Gah he does and all. And now I’VE got my facts all wrong.
But yes. Yes I will while I’m in the baroque capital of the world drinking lots and lots of cheap beer. Coz I’m classy, wot.
Oh yeah. The beer. Delicioso, as us Spanish say. Krusovice. YUM! Czech is a hard language to learn, though. I just couldn’t get the basics right.
The granddaughter is a jeweler in Prague. Her daughter is in Dublin, teaching Spanish and singing. The internetz told me. Does she make jewelry too? I can’t find any of that on the internetz.
Look at me, pulling a Cian.
#pullingacian
That’s a thing now.
That sounds filthy
pulling a Cian
I like it
but does Cian?
no, no, no
his granddaughter is a jeweler from prague – sells her stuff out of own stores in prague and barcelona. she lives in dublin.
her daughter is from prague and barcelona. and is a singer. also lives in dublin. http://www.katerina-garcia.com
90% of my comments are poo poo
but you’ve doubted one that falls in the 10%
so what does that say about you, hmmmmmmm?
Dunno. Probably that I’m awesome?
wouldn’t dispute that
Ladies – don’t take my name in vein.
#NotAllCians
too late
it’s viral
#wwdcd
what would Winston Churchill do ?
Damn.
What would Cian do?
I dunno what he’d do. He doesn’t fit the letter order above, you nincompoop.
I know.
Morto. I deserve whatever grief comes my way after that.
I was actually talking to Janet, Mildred, but it appears as if you are BOTH donkeys.
No offence, obv.
Just call us salt and pepper
WWCD?
I’d forgive you all.
If you fancy a day trip while there, head to this place:

Un-bah-leev-abellll
extraordinary place
(and, by the way,the jan svankmajer film on it has been uploaded to youtube. it was banned by soviet regime and thought lost for a long time. well worth a goo:

Cool! Didn’t go there but went to another ossuary in Brno which I think is one of the biggest in Europe. Much like Cork being the second biggest port in the world. #DodgyFacts
It’s a very interesting country. I had no idea Austerlitz was there.
Must go back soon. I’d do some damage to a few big tankards of Starobrno right now.
Oh wow. I’ll definitely be czeching that out (ha!).
Last time I was there we spent most of our time at the Castle and wandering around Old Town and the Jewish quarter.
We ended up taking the wrong train and getting a taxi back with this old guy in a beat up banger that he had jazzed up with every Ferrari related sticker and gizmo, fake exhausts and all. Not a word of English, ’twas class.
Thought that was Bernie Madoff
I just don’t get it. I’ve tried several times but still failed to get it. How something like a painted canvas in a frame such as this gets to be worth 150 million squids. Rich people’s tax dodge?
Exactly. Always saw high end art as a way to launder money. I’m probably just a poor heathen though
How to Steal a Million. 1966. Peter O’Toole, swoon.
ah here
I’m in the wrong game altogether
I rather like the tie in with the better butt animation:)
Valued at $150 million but not ‘worth’ $150 million. That crazy price is more down to dollar devaluation than art value appreciation.
…I remember George Melley speaking in Sligo about 20 years ago saying that his biggest regret in life was having to sell his Modigliani…
I feel sorry for John Magnier, the amount of capital gains tax he will have to pay … very sad…
or is the a get out of tax for guys like him ?
He has quite the collection
