    A remote beach like this is Paradise – until word gets out and it is invaded by thousands of waste-making, sweaty hedonist holidaymakers. Then it becomes an intimation of Hell.

    I was on a similarly small beach in West Cork a few weeks ago. There was plastic everywhere along with bottles, bits of fishing nets and other detritus. It was manky.

    Incidentally, Co Armagh (not Leitrim) has the shortest coastline in Ireland. I be ye didn’t know that!!
