Taller and taller banners, it’s an arms race.

Is mutually assured destruction too much to hope for?

Oh look. It’s those Repeal campaigners dressed as angels who were campaigning outside the Rotunda last weekend.

Newsjustin obviously doesn’t watch Supernatural (I watch it for factual religious reasons). Angels are scheming, murderous bastards. They’d probably LOVE abortion.

          1. newsjustin

No campaigners with images of foetuses outside of maternity hospitals unwelcome. Yes campaigners dressed as angels campaigning for Repeal and abortion outside of maternity hospitals, no problem.

          2. mildred st. meadowlark

Perhaps if they were simply standing there with signs stating their purpose instead of bombarding people with images of bloodied foetuses for shock value, people would be less offended…

            Just a thought.

          3. Starina

i don’t think any campaigning should be done outside maternity hospitals, the patients are under enough stress as it is. but one side was displaying distressing, insensitive images and the other was not. it’s not the same.

          4. newsjustin

An image of a healthy foetus is distressing while people dressed as angels campaigning for abortion is not. Lol Starina. More evidence that sensible people will excuse any hypocrisy and nonsense as long as it’s vaguely pro-repeal.

          5. realPolithicks

The people dressed in the angel costumes are attempting to coverup the images being displayed by the anti choice side. You seem to be upset that they are dressed as angels which I guess speaks to where your views are coming from.

          6. newsjustin

Look at the Twitter link above. They are not covering anything. They are standing outside the Rotunda Maternity hospital, campaigning for a Yes vote, posing for photos.

            ….yes?

Hiding the abortion gore fetish porn from people who’ve had miscarriages and bereavements in the Rotunda because, unlike ICBR, they’re not sick fuppers who get off on showing faked pictures.

In the US a few years ago, those ‘God Hates Fags’ people – the family cult, I forget their name – started picketing the funerals of gay men and soldiers. LGBT activists struck back by forming peaceful blockades, dressed as angels, with big wings outstretched to shield the mourners from the hateful placards etc. I believe they did the same to block homophobic protesters at the funeral of Mathew Shepherd.

I think these angel outfits might be a reference back to that and not any direct allusion to the Catholic Church. Queer activists were the first to respond to calls for someone to counter-protest the foetus images at the Rotunda, so it makes sense.

Catholic don’t have a monopoly on angels, by the way. There are Islamic and Jewish angels too. And Charlie’s Angels. And Hell’s Angels. And so on.

More evidence: Abortionistas think that anybody with an opinion that doesn’t agree with their agenda has no right to express themselves.

I like to frequent a few auld fella pubs for my lunch across the city, you know the type where you end up chatting to your new older best friend, lately so have just been gently explaining why a no can and could be a yes with good results ( after the initial chat about dogs and horses and kids today…naturally)

(apols for laziness of cut/paste but I wrote this earlier today too tired at this point in the day & fairly much all I have to say. btw good on ya Janet.

what we have to remember about the likes of the midwife, the bishop, the justin is that they’re all part of an army. there’s a war on & this is a battle to them. the problem is their weapons aren’t very good anymore but as any army will do in these circumstances they’ll try anything & deploy everything in the fight. diversion, smokescreens, lies, deception, confusing information flood…..they’re not here to be fair to you or I, just win.

oh & if & when they lose this battle there’s still a war to be won by the way, this referendum is just a battle, isn’t that right Justin?

one worth chewing on pointed out to me by a friend recently, Orwell, Homage to Catalonia:
“All the war-propaganda, all the screaming and lies and hatred, comes invariably from people who are not fighting”

I think Justin it’s fair to say is not a 13 y/o rape victim pregnant with his rapists foetus, is he? He’s not the father of a daughter to whom this horrible vista has been visited upon (and I’m glad he isn’t) Nor the bishop. Nor the midwife. Or the fake nurse. Or Shercock. I doubt any of them have a child who has Down Syndrome either, nor are they running around trying to assist anyone practically speaking who finds themselves in that situation or ANY of the ones rolled out for their use at the debating soc.

in short NONE of these fuppers have any real idea what they are talking about imo.

a person has the right to control their own body & in this civil society of ours (the one I want to live in) a person has the individual expectation to receive unrestricted & unhindered medical treatment when required.

the rest of it is just noise.

Wow martco. Way to go about assuming you know all about me, my family, my loved ones, my friends.

You have no idea about my family circumstances, my experiences, my partner, my children and their experiences.

This isn’t a battle, nor a war. Nor any other nonsense term you want to apply to it.

I am opposed to abortion. I am pro-life. I believe this proposed amendment is a bad idea.

Please do me the courtesy of, at least, accepting that I hold those views in good faith. I, for my part, understand and respect people who do not share my voting intentions.

Why should anyone care whether or not you hold your views “in good faith” as you put it. You claim to “respect people” but you clearly do not respect women and their right to control their own bodies and make decisions regarding their health. So please spare us your declarations, words are cheap actions are what matter. Vote Yes!

Let it out Janet you can’t help but be infuriated at the actions and tactics of the anti choicers. They don’t show any respect and are deserving of none in return. There’s a little more than a week to go so keep challenging the BS that you see on here or elsewere. No matter the outcome, you’ll be glad you did.

You claim there is equivalence between gory images and people in angel costumes. I wouldn’t agree to people displaying video or images from any type of invasive surgery either, but displaying those images outside maternity hospitals is cruel and unjustifiable. You want people to accept your good faith start demonstrating it.

The images outside of maternity hospitals, the images I’ve been referring to, were of Live, healthy foetuses. They were not gory. Let’s at least get that fact right.

            Don’t be dishonest.
To force these images on people, for example, experiencing miscarriage is brutal. Why do you think they show these images? And why do you think they have selected that location?
Given your claims of equivalence between angel costumes and those images in that location, I don’t believe you are a good person, never mind acting in good faith.

The majority of Pro-Choicers come across as though they are baying for blood. I will be voting ‘No’ because of that and the dismissive way they refer to the unborn. No way will I be a part of introducing abortion on demand into Ireland. I’m not religious in the slightest but my goodness, the state of the Pro-Choice crew’s ‘reasoning’ and argument is disgusting.

As it’s been said before. It’s abortion under very defined circumstances. It’s available for all up to 12 weeks, which has also been stated already, is the most workable and sympathetic solution for those in circumstances involving rape or incest and then after that point it’s under very specific conditions.

And I’d add that the Anti Choice crowd show a sickening lack of regard for the women involved here, and generally only address that women are the ones who actually deal with the pregnancy when forced to address it. Their lack of concern for women astounds me. They seem to forget that the baby they are so keen to protect is reliant on its mother and don’t seem to respect that fact at all.

I don’t give a rat’s ass? Stay out of it yank, it’s got nothing to do with you. For clarification, I would class myself as a feminist and pro-women in every other matter, this is not comparable to any other matter though. The way in which you and all your self-congratulating, narcissistic wind-bags are presenting the Pro-Choice argument is pretty sickening and has no doubt increased the numbers voting ‘No’ .

I am the father of two daughters and also have two nieces living in Ireland and I’ll be damned if I’ll leave it to the likes of you to make decisions about their lives and health. You can class yourself anyway you like, but your actions will speak much louder than your words. So go ahead and cast your self righteous vote any way you want, nobody cares.

Any wonder the Pro-Choicers are so keen to cover up the posters of the aborted babies, even they cannot face what they are advocating. Someone mentioned today that nobody uses abortion as a means of contraception, that’s questionable, after spending many years in London I can tell you people do use it as a method of contraception, voting ‘Yes’ will encourage that English sloppiness here.

You don’t support the protection and equality of women, Paul, if you think that equating the value of a foetus to that of a living breathing woman. And you honestly can’t think you’re a feminist if you think that

Equal rights for women!…. Except when they’re pregnant… Right?
