doesn’t he have Crohn’s disease? maybe i’m missing something anyway but there’s not much difference between the photos

He does, and it can really knock the stuffing out of you and make normal colds etc worse as you can’t take loads of things.

      Simon is not hte problem.

The same people in the HSE and Civil service have been calling the shots for the health searvices for decades now, they carry on regardless and have no fear of demotion, redunancy or being sacked despited being so utterly incompetent at their jobs.

Jaysus I didn’t know that. Poor lad. I wouldn’t wish that on my enemy. It’s an awful illness.

I’m no fan of Simon Harris but my word…

    He looks so dispirited.

One is reminded of the famous Noonan (biffo) quote on receiving the Health portfolio “F**k, not Angola”. The most difficult and least desired of ministries, for a thousand reasons.

Maybe its the lighting, but i think he looks better in the 2nd photo – he looks very pale and a bit haggard in the first.
Anyway go Simon! He’s the first minister of health to actually listen to women and show real leadership on getting rid of the hateful 8th

Most kids grow their stubble and masturbate late into the night.Give him a break.

Who would you suggest does the job?
Tell me one minister for health in your life time that has done a good job?

All the old men in most positions of power across the world sure are playing a blinder

So you going to make this about gender? Okay so. Mary Harney did a great job didn’t she?
Now , what does this achieve exactly?

What is this nonsense? Putting up a photo of a minister then and now and saying ‘jaysis look at him he’s wrecked’. What an execrable mess this website has become.

      +1

Unless they turn around later and tell us the photos were in the wrong order, then there’s nothing funny about this tabloid barrel scraping non-story.

You won’t believe what the kid on the cover of U2’s Boy album looks like today.

Pretty shameful post. The guy has Crohn’s as previously mentioned by another poster, which is a pretty debilitating disease. Aside from the fact that he looks to be a healthier in the second photo there’s also no context or time given for either photo; we’re all prone to looking a bit more tired at certain moments and who’s to say if 1 is a good day and 2 is a bad. Not to mention that there isn’t an ice cubes chance in hell that you would have made a similar post about a female minister. For the record I have no grá for the guy, his party or the job he’s doing but this is red-top tabloid stuff. Shame on whoever thought this was a good idea and shame on whoever let it go live.

The commenters here must all be reversing in age with a super fresh and untroubled countenance. Obviously.

    What a post :/

Really Bodger? This is the level we’re at here?
I’m not a fan of Simon Harris, but I do know him from my political activism in the past.
I campaigned for candidates against him in local and general elections and opposed him in the Fiscal Treaty referendum, but never played the man, only the ball.
If you want to play the ball next time, have a look at his pledge to Wicklow voters about publishing his expenses.
The pro-lifers will see a pattern there.

I totally get the point ,its more about the Ministry of Health itself rather than Minister of Health!
Hopefully Slainte Care will be implemented asap,no matter what political party in power to put the patient as top priority always, accountability and transparency a neccessary &for mandatory disclosure to be the norm plus real consequences for failures in health care.
