The latest twist in the battle for the bridge in Fairview
Meanwhile….
On the bridge last night…
Incredible public support for #together4Yes on #Fairview Bridge Dublin this evening…just listen to those horns honking…gardai honked, ambulances turned on their sirens. Public mood shifting further to support #repealthe8th pic.twitter.com/l07tVXUc7i

Hon’ Marino Repeal
Mari-yes even
God that nine week old fetus has remarkable literacy skills, not to mention it’s ability to pop out of the womb for a bit of the old graffiti daubing eh?
Impressive .!.
Could just be a kid on his way home from Joey’s who’s done badly in the Mock Junior?
Y’know it might have nothing to do with the referendum.
It’s one of them Children of the Corn babbies, indulging in a little prenatal possession.
Good case for the Yes platform, some unborn babies might have arcane devil-powers.
Speaking of dirty tactics by the no side ;-)

Hon’ de’ Repealers
I’m going high 60s for the Tá.
And wouldn’t be surprised ta’ see 72ish
Even higher from the Dublin boxes t’morrow
Dunno Fril, the gays only got 62 and it was a lot easier to tell the busybodies to mind their own than this.
Frilly, you’re running away with yourself. The 2015 SSM referendum returned a 62% yes. You’re suggesting this amendment on abortion is more popular than that?
We’ll see
But I betting it’ll be twice what was then a No vote in ’83,
33.10%
Or reverse if you like
66.9 : 33.10
Yeah. It won’t be.
Ladbrooks offering just 1/8 on YES…9/2 now on the NO
I would love to agree but I think it’ll be in the early fifties at best.
Won’t be anywhere near that. low 50s
The result will be somewhere between 49:51 and 53:47 Tá:Níl
So either side will win.
Nice prediction.
the No side had taken the bridge by early this morning
i’m sorry i missed the battle, it would have been epic
saw an infuriating, presumptuous poster today: “if you saw an abortion, you’d vote no”
Yeah, if you saw an episiotomy, you’d vote no to it, too. But sometimes, the yuck response isn’t enough.
Like yer one Katie Ascough on Pat Kenny the other night. ‘I watched a video of an abortion on de internet and it was awful, just awful. If you watched it you’d vote no’.
What the actual f***!? It’s surgery. Nobody challenged her on this! What do you expect in a surgeons theatre? Chats and tea and ring a ring a rosey?
i saw a hip operation on telly years ago. the sight of the surgeon whacking the joint into the pelvis with dirty big hammer gives me a pain in me hip thinking about it even now. surgery is just not pleasant no matter what it is. but i’m sure no campaigners wouldn’t mind having their liposuction fat, or their liver transplant, or their cancer surgery photographed, stuck on a poster and displayed around the place?
blech. i’ve seen videos of stomach fat lipo, the doc was really putting his elbow into it. gives me the willies.
Yep
Same here Scottie
I can’t even look at an x-ray
These No-Siders love their guts n’blood and gore
It makes them horney and they just gorge on that kinda stuff
And I don’t think that’s normal in any human that can experience empathy as a genuine emotion
But then tis all about Choice
So let them at it
I’m just glad I’ve nathin’ t’do with them
Rory reckons public mood is shifting towards a Yes. How does he know that? Does Rory have a finger on the pulse of the nation, I very much doubt it. Dublin will be overwhelmingly Yes, hopefully and I sincerely that will be enough to carry the day. It’s not Dublin that the real battle is being fought and I doubt Rory has spent much time outside it.
This kind of echo chamber complacency is a worry for me.
I’d love if the vote was a clear 60/40 in favour of Yes, in reality though, it will be much closer than that; if it carries at all.
It’ll be interesting to see how many counties will vote Yes or No. It’s of no consequence to the final result mind you.
But if it is to be a Yes win, TDs may need to bear in mind the vote of their constituents regarding future votes on legislation
That comment on TD’s works both ways, especially if there is a much larger Yes. Doctors are already coming under scrutiny and TD’s will too.
Yes. I think TDs who think they’re elected to serve a god or gods rather than the electorate will find their time has come and gone.
that would be class
All eyes to Kerry and Roscommon/Leitrim and Donegal then for the NO brigade.
Mind you it is a fine day, so once the famers and friends come in from fields, we might see some change in patterns later.
Those counties are a given I think.
I doubt the number of Yes voting counties will go into double figures. It’s just a question of how much of a margin those Yes counties have (versus the No counties).
From what I have seen today at the polls, and what has been reported, the YES side will carry the day.
why, what did you see at the polls that brings you to that conclusion ? Where were yout voting?
That was the first time I’d seen people use the footbridge. Normally the pedestrians prefer to negotiate the six lanes of traffic.
guilty
But there’s staaaaaaaaaairs
long winded stairs
Nothing like coming down one side and taking each step in a single stride..only to pick up too much speed and get the wobbly ankles of a toddler. Those skateboardists can be quiet mean..
Fair enough.
I was in that ambulance Bastids took time off giving me life support to get involved.
I shot a man in Marino just to watch him die.
I hear the campaign comin’
It’s driving me ’round the bend
