Enough with this ill-directed sentimental nonsense. According to the coroner, Mrs Halappanavar died from ‘medical misadventure.’ Her husband sued for negligence and received a massive settlement, to which he was fully entitled. This unfortunate woman died because her doctors failed to diagnose and treat a serious infection in a timely manner. Our abortion laws, which I’m happy to see repealed, played a peripheral role, if any at all.

You should have been here last week to fight that battle, Emily dear.

Savita died of sepsis like JFK died of a bleed on the brain.
Martin
Emily, the person who complied the report on her death clearly stated the 8th amendment had a material impact in relation to the cause of her death.
Some how I think he’s better placed and qualified to say what was a factor in her death then yourself,

Pish posh Emily no one here wants your facts, please move along before someone calls you an irrational, woman-hater.

There’s a pattern being repeated here but it’s too devilishly clever to spot. …

“Doctor who led inquiry into Savita Halappanavar’s death calls for Yes vote ‘for women’s health and rights. He also refuted claims that sepsis was the only cause of her death.’
“Arulkumaran has also clarified claims around Savita’s death, saying that the Eighth Amendment was a major factor. He refuted claims that sepsis was the only cause of her death, as has been claimed by some during the course of the referendum debate.”

So, Emily, you need to get over your racism and lack of empathy and insight. Plus, you lost. Get over that one too.
I hope they call the abortion legislation, “Savita’s Law”.
This backward island is slowly looking forward. Join in.
Lovely to see that somebody is maintaining the shrine — you can tell the flowers have been neatly rearranged from the pile they were in on Saturday.
