The phones were ringing off the hook in the radio stations with people giving out about the city being on lockdown, apparently. “For that fella no-one likes”.
    He’s no Morten Harket.

I suppose that creepy Cork fishmonger will be abasing himself again in front of his betters.

My kid comes up with wittier and more intelligent material than that.

          She’s 4.

My 3-year-old called me an eejit this weekend.
I had to take it on the chin. She’s not wrong.

Look dav – it’s a lovely day outside; would you not give that oul internet humbug a rest for the day?

you see, they’d neglect to tell you that, hoping for misfortune to occur. I think the tears of others gives them joy….

cork city hall is a nice building. i vaguely remember something about the british queen paying for it as an apology for burning down the original one. if i was there, i’d ask him about that

    1. Andyourpointiswhatexactly?

I did exams in there so I have no goodwill towards that building. I think I saw some white South African anti-apartheid guy speaking there. Who could that have been? All I can think of is Donald Sutherland for some reason. Some guy like him but not him.

In the City Hall? Really? I don’t remember it being a venue. Though we were dragged to loads of concerts there when in school. Now I think about it, maybe I saw that activist guy across the river in the thingy building. Ach, my brain is mush. I can’t remember anything. Was it called Connolly Hall?

          1. Frilly Keane

            Yep
Connolly Hall was a well established venue one time too
            The Belsonics homeground practically
Cork City then was filled with great venues

            The Opera House in particular
The sound quality for soloists remains unmatched imo
            Anyone remember KD Lang ?
Getting a standing ovation for Orbison’s “Crying”
The Hothouse Flowers couldn’t follow up and were in bits as the main event
Or Christy Dignam as a solo

            And the Savoy
I saw Shakey Stevens there before Health and Safety carry-on shut it down
I remember someone telling me it was the largest fully seated theatre in Ireland & England one time

Ha! I went to see Mannequin there. I always had a bit of a thing for Andrew McCarthy.

    Don’t mind them visiting
    But flying that flag
And in the Cork City Hall no less
    Is an insult

I actually don’t have the words now that won’t end up sprinkled with tinkley woos

    But I will mention
The Black and Tans and the burning of Cork
    And the previous City Hall

Now, where did I leave me Stars and Bars lads

    1. Riz

But is it really an insult? I mean really. Who actually gives a toss really? You do obviously, but I mean besides you. The flag will be down tomorrow and no one will be sad. You might be actually but no one else will. They’ll be busy getting to work at 12.45pm tomorrow and certainly far too busy to be upset about the insulting flag flying over the hall in Cork. And definitely too busy at 12.45pm to be commenting on Broadsheet about the insult they had to endure yesterday when the union jack flew above the hall in Cork and insulted everyone with the nasty memories from a century ago.

      1. Frilly Keane

Gimme me a full colonic while yer there, why don’t ya
You’ve climbed that far up my arse like

        An’ c’mere
        Wha’ I do at 12.45
Or at anytime ah’ the day n’night shouldn’t be of any worry t’you
        So make yerself useful

  5. Spaghetti Hoop

Visitors welcome. Butcher’s Apron flying – not. Pointing at fish – yeah whatever. Wielding a hurl – ah go on shure.

Brought the two kids down to fota island there last week, all the cork senior hurling squad were training down at the pitch at the back of the lodges. Those lads have very impressive legs, in fairness. I had to tell herself to roll the tongue back in a few times.
