Mature Reflection

Yesterday’s Sunday Independent Living section

Splutter!

Gary B writes:

There are many things I wish not to hear from self-styled Super Mammy, Mary O’Rourke but her first sexual experience would perhaps be even less welcome than any of her FF politics, causing, as it did, a ruined Sunday lunch yesterday.

Thought her account was quite frank and honest; really reflects that era when most Irish couples abstained. Can’t have been easy for fellas and girls mad about each other. Can’t see anything disgusting or nauseating in this article at all.

    1. Yep

There wasn’t much information on playing in the mud in Ireland at that time but my friend Bernie and I travelled to see our friend in London. Now, anyone who knows me knows how much I love dancing so we went to see this film “Last Tango in Paris”…

Love what the mods did to your comment Bertie Bould: would have gone with ‘derrière’ meself.

  2. IdiotsKnowWhatIdiotsDo

    I’m all for this.
Anything that opens old Ireland up to a bit of an honest talk about s3x is ok with me.

Ageist Broadsheet. Wow, interesting what brings out the prejudice in the stridently non prejudicial. She’s a manky auld Fianna Failer, right?

  4. rotide

Yeah, who wants to know about some auld wan’s first ride.

Can we get Laura Whitmores story please?

Oh there’s a sex special from the Sunday Indo from yesterday about popping one’s cherry, or when “well-known” people did. Take your pick, at your own risk

Breaking news Rotide – over 70s had sex in the 20th Century. It may have resulted in you. In fact, Homo Erectus had sex thousands of years ago, and with other communities. Pretty stomach-churning I know….

Er no, Frilly – the point of Mammy O’ Rourke’s article is that the senior women and men of today had sex for for the first time in the 50s and 60s as youngsters on their wedding night.

          1. Frilly Keane

            Got that alright Spag
‘just wanted to frill it up a bit

shur’ what was the point of the feature
            wouldn’t it be more interesting
or off putting – for reaction stats like
to read about her first orgasm
            or special Date Night stuff
or stuff she would or wouldn’t do
like she talks about wanting to please him
            and him her
would it have killed them to give us a bitta kink

            tell us about that Mary
and according to the piece they were still lovin’ it into their 60’s
even the same week he died
Like if Ireland really wants to open up about sex
            then effin ‘ do it
and not this paltry polite afternoon tea with chintzie doilies nonsense spread amongst the Sindo pretties

what a load of oul’ silly billy nothingness

      1. Janet, I ate my Avatar

shsssish that was meant to be
        tell us
        @ rotide
also why is everyone on here so late ?
is it a full moon ?

  5. Mrs Fanny Power

Being old school meself I think she handled it well….the article I mean.

She’s always smiling, she never seems to get angry. It’s always smiles and great chat or serious politics talk.

I like to see her as a guest on the chatshows, she’s liable to steer the conversation off in any direction. Prefer citizen Mary to politics Mary.

  6. Dinny Do Well?

She’s done his stuff before. We’ve heard about the backbencher. It’s more of that same old narcissistic guff. She’s the Women’s Mini-Marathon Competitor of Irish Female Politics. Can’t go the distance and wasn’t fit for it, so just went into it for for the goodie bag. And whinged about it not being good enough. Go away, FFS.

  7. BobbyJ

“Former Politician and National Treasure”. The Sindo really is a complete rag of a paper.

The sooner the O’Rourke/Lenihan political dynasty dies out the better
