Artificial Moon by Beijing-based artist Wang Yuyang, is a 4m diameter sphere studded with hundreds of strategically-placed fluorescent bulbs mimicking craters and other surface features of the moon.

It was particularly poignant when first exhibited in Shanghai – a city where light pollution is so extreme that the inhabitants are frequently unable to see the actual moon in the night sky.
