Old school Maths book: the reason a generation can’t do simple multiplications (cf housing crash).
Old school Irish Book: No amount of coloured balls could reflect the horror within (1969)
Old school religion book: A Tippex-bandit’s dream (1971).

MORE Irish? You can smell the evil and abuse from here (1971).
Before Soundings: This is your brain on 1970s schooling (1971).
Deceptively-modernist covers of Irish school books dating from the 1960s and 1970s compiled by Niall McCormack for his vintage book blog Hitone.
Meanwhile, also from Niall, if you’ve ever wondered why so many things feed into this country’s martyr complex this 1958 cover (by Anne Yeats) may help.
And this was a book for schoolkids..
It’s no wonder that generation made such a success of Ireland.

The recent tweet-off between Paul Zachary Myers (middle, left) and David Quinn seems to have jogged an unpleasant memory for PZM’s fellow atheist and humanist, Richard Dawkins (bottom, right). Commenting on Myers’ blog post Pharyngula yesterday, Dawkins recalled his own encounter with David Quinn and one Ryan Tubridy in 2006.

Well, you know Mr Liquidator?
They’ve liquidated him.
And, apart from being assaulted by my care home worker, that’s really all my news.

Lowry’s whatnow?
The impressive rubbery stylings of Larry Moss – former NYC street performer and current holder of the Guinness World Record for the largest non-round (an important distinction) balloon structure.
