Inventor Izhar Gafni has built a bike called The Alfa with a virtually maintenance-free belt drive.
It weighs 9kg, can support the weight of three adults, cost between €7 and €9 to build and is entirely made of cardboard and other recycled materials. He sez:
The development to what you see today took three years. Two were spent just figuring out the cardboard complications–leading to several patents–and the last was spent converting a cardboard box on wheels to a relatively normal looking bike.
Gafni is currently looking to raise funds to put the Alfa into mass production.
InB4U with: don’t take it out in the rain.
