Dancing Through the Fabric Of Space And Time

at

French filmmakers Adrien M/Claire B’s trippy experiment in ‘time remap’.

Slit scan – the type of photography being used above – is a mechanical filming technique famously used in the Jon Pertwee-era opening titles of Dr Who, the ‘stretching’ of the USS Enterprise as it accelerated to warp speed in Star Trek: TNG and the stargate’ sequence in Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. A combination of long exposure time and camera movements is used to create psychedelic flows of colour and warped motion effects.
