What you may need to know

1. Be honest: you wouldn’t necessarily expect too much from a thriller starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Hugh Jackman

2. That said, the reviews from Toronto, where it just premiered, suggest that it might be the best movie of the year.

3. Gyllenhaal has given the Hollywood pretty boy thing a try, but it all went a bit Prince Of Persia. He’ll always be Donnie Darko (2001) to us.

4. We do like Paul Dano, from Little Miss Sunshine (2009) and There Will Be Blood (2007), and those big mad -sad eyes of his.

5.
From what we hear, Prisoners goes FULL dark. We do like that.
